F9: The Fast Saga | June 25, 2021 | Pray to your Dom Shrine! | Coming to Cannes!

It ends with the team being recruited for a secret space mission to take care of Theron and The Rock, who's turned bad.

...Which in F10 (i.e. the Fast's saga's Moonraker), is revealed to be both working as double agents to get the team distracted so that the U.S. gov. steal back the corrupt racing circuit for itself.  Full circle.  😂😎

For now, Universal is waiting to see how the box office recovers in China, where the “Fast” movies are enormously popular. Hinging upon Asian countries, “F9” could end up opening later in summer, possibly in July or August, or down the line in 2021. There’s even a world in which it is delayed another year.

It did in the short term at least and got ruined due to the second wave. Had it released in the same situation as the next month or two, it definitely would've gotten more long-term support for cinemas

My point is "getting people back to theaters" is not a viable strategy when there's no guarantee of safety. When Tenet opened, we were certainly not in the clear of this thing.

Now as you say, we'll arguably be in a better position than we were then. How much better should determine whether keeping it in its current release date is viable.
