Cmasterclay
Exhibitor Relations @ERCboxoffice43m GRAVITY scored $4M on Tuesday, $132.5M total--$29M of that from IMAX. Big drop, but expected after Columbus Day

ecstasy
Where is everybody? 4m is a good number. Baumer warned that there would be a big drop Tuesday. I'm sure Captain Phillips suffered the same fate.
Founder / Operator Shawn Robbins Posted October 16, 2013 Founder / Operator Share Posted October 16, 2013 Interestingly, IMAX-only grosses dropped 38% Mon-to-Tue (as opposed to the overall 35% daily drop). Tue-to-Tue IMAX drop was 40% (same as overall Tue-to-Tue drop).

zackzack
I wonder how much more the movie would gross if it opens in, say, August, or late July. Warner puts too much stock in PACIFIC RIM which should be the late April kind of movie. Look at GI JOE2, mediocre movie, gets $370M WW by opening way back in March. GRAVITY should be a July or August movie. What a wasted opportunity...
Poseidon
I dont think it is good or bad. It just is. Jep, same for yesterdays number. It's getting less impressive, but I guess it has some surprises left.

AASixteen16
Nothing disappointing about it. It has made more in 10 days than most people thought would make in total! And it's a fucking amazing movie! Saw it in IMAX 3D and my body simply wasn't ready for it. SLAYED.
zackzack
It's impressive for an October movie But imagine what it could do during summer...
Poseidon
It's impressive for an October movie But imagine what it could do during summer... Or imagine what Pacific Rim could have done in an empty market in october. It's the perfect spot for an original movie. Look how Gravity was able to be the movie in the spotlight with nothing else opening, it's not that easy to generate that attention between Iron Man and Fast 6, you can bet on that.
Jake Gittes
There's no guarantee it would have done better in the summer. First of all, it wouldn't have been built up for an entire month as basically the must see movie of the season; second of all, it wouldn't have been able to own the first several weeks of its release due to all the competition. Like THG last year, Gravity is a huge off-season blockbuster that was able to become a huge blockbuster precisely because it opened off-season.

It is a niche film period. Not to mention it has one of the best dates in the summer
Lumos
That's a 40% drop from last Tuesday! A great number, but not gonna lie, I didn't expect it to drop that harshly.
