The47th
Well, I hope they don't ditch the idea of undoing how ST 2009 screwed up most of the franchise's continuity. I don't care for the rest. But I hope they finally hire someone who 'gets' Star Trek and who has a vision of where to take the franchise from now on. Actually, the end of the JJ Abrams/Orci era is a very good thing. Edited December 6, 2014 by The47th

Goffe
Bob Orci won't direct anymore, Edgar Wright is a possibility to take over: http://deadline.com/2014/12/star-trek-roberto-orci-1201311255/
Avatree
Alright now let's get Michael Bay in to direct.
wileECoyote
Edgar Wright? Yeah that'll be interesting indeed. So will we see Scotty jumping fences?
SchumacherFTW
Edgar Wright? Yup. That would put it ahead of any movie in 2016 in anticipation if it actually happens.
Ruthie
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge sigh of relief from me after learning that Orci won't direct, but I don't know about Wright either. At least I'm more comfortable with Wright than I ever would be with Orci.
acetabulum7
I thought Wright's films were fun, but nothing of his screams blockbuster material. Hope he proves me wrong.
RobinHood26
I have no doubt Wright could handle a blockbuster. His previous work shows he understands tone and set pieces at the same time. Half the reason his movies are funny is basically because they are so well made. The filmmaking is touch notch. I'm not sure if he would want to jump on a sequel though.

Wright making a Star Trek sequel would be certainly be interesting, but first I'd probably prefer if he made his own attempt an original blockbuster. Jonwo
I wouldn't be surprised if Simon Pegg either asked or suggested Edgar Wright given they've worked together in the past. Even though he didn't get to direct Ant-Man, the proof of concept did show potential.
Irastev
I'd definitely be fine with Wright. Not that I necessarily believe the rumor. Call me old-fashioned but any competent director would be a step up from a barely-competent writer.

The47th
I would be happy with that. He did a good job with First Contact and Insurrection (however irrelevant the story of the latter might be). My biggest fear is that his style may be too classic for a series of films that are still fighting to reinvent and modernize the franchise. But I would definitely be on board. Elessar
That is not even news worthy. It's just some fans campaigning for him directing and him saying "i'd be up for it". Not gonna happen.
The47th
Well, it's a little bit more than that: According to Frakes, he’s reached out to J.J. Abrams about the job and his agent sent word to Paramount, which has yet to respond. We'll see. It's a long shot.
CoolioD1
I wouldn't mind directing this as well. Throw my name up in the title too while you're at it.
RaidensSword
Wait wait wait....a legend from the next generation, directing the next generation of star trek crew in a new edition of star trek to be watched by the next generation of fans? I'd like to see that.
Jessie
Edgar Wright doing a big budget blockbuster? I think he's a great director and all, but I don't see how Nick Frost is going to be brought into this universe.
