dashrendar44
Wait. Wait. We are getting a Trek sequel? After STiD was allegedly such a huge disappointment? Shocked the studio is sinking such money into another installment. It grossed more than ST09 WW so why not? They should stop milking Star Trek franchise? Come on, STiD is not Tron Legacy's kind of "disappointment"... Edited November 3, 2013 by dashrendar44

kayumanggi
460 WW, budget 190.... why not make another one? BTW - Cornish is more like a scriptwriter than a director. So, if he'll be directing, then script would be better than usual Orci/Kurtzman mess. 467.4 M
Jonwo
There is a big problem here. 2016 is its anniversary. But if SW Vll hits in 2016, uh oh.I think if Star Trek will move to a June or July or preferably November 2016, Bond does well in November time and I think Star Trek would get a boost due to the hype surrounding the 50th anniversary,

Charism
*waits for that person with the cojones to make a "Star Trek 3 over Star Wars 7" club* Only one club that makes even slight sense is 'SW DOM vs ST WW'
Jonwo
Totally agreed.November is currently empty with only Trolls and Disneys untitled animated film, November 11th or November 18th would be fine. If Paramount wants a summer slot then July 1st.

John Marston
who said they would give up on this franchise? However, I think they are definitely going to try and rein the budget in now.

It's still fun to point out the flawed rush to judgement, before OW weekend actuals are published, WWW thread that was started. Everybody thought it would be bigger though, right? Both us common folk on this board and the studios themselves. I'm still holding out hope for a new ST tv series.
