Mike Wazowski
I think they are preparing a new reboot after this trailer.. It will be called Star Trek: Generations, with James McAvoy in the lead roll Edited December 17, 2015 by Mike Wazowski

In neither films the music were used in important, decisive moments. I can't even remember when it was used in STiD.

No, but that was never the point. DeeCee (and others) was like "the music was used in Star Trek films before, why are you all complaining?" the thing is, the music was used in a very specific and insignificant moment in the film, it did fit the scene. That's why no one was bothered by it. Now, try to use it as the theme of the movie, or in any important scene or even in a mere action scene. That would be awful. That's what this teaser did. It never represented Star Trek, not the old movie series, not this new one. You have the right to like the trailer, you have the right to think that changing from ST09&STiD self-serious tone to a more b movie, a lighter tone is the right path, but don't imply that people are being hypocrites for not liking it.

This is the problem I have with all JJs movies, including TFA, they are SO close to getting it right, but ultimately fail and its very frustrating. The writing was defiantly a problem with STID, but that lack of awareness of just how strong and important the technical canon is in ST was worse.
Kalderic
ugh... I am not a fan of the FF movies, and this trailer made it look like FF, but with Spock... I am not sold. It looks like there could be bits of promise in there, but the trailer sucked. I need more... I hope there is more than this. lol
DarthPhil
Considering how well they marketed ST09 with one of the best trailers I'd seen in some time, they've dropped the ball with marketing in the last two movies. This trailer stunk and was not like a Trek trailer at all, it's like they're doing marketing campaigns from two years ago now. They're copying GotG style and failing, STID was being all TDK. They really need to get over the fact they're making Star Trek movies and stop trying to pretend it's ever gonna be a 2b dollar a movie franchise.
DlAMONDZ
Music in the trailer wasn't that bad. The music in the last Hunger Games trailer... now that's bad Edited December 20, 2015 by DlAMONDZ
The Futurist
I liked the teaser and I thought it looked more Star Trek than any of JJ's. Oh well ...

Most times I'm down for hearing the Beastie Boys, buuuut didn't quite work here And that's the main problem, it doesn't work with a Star Trek trailer. How the song was used in ST09 was fantastic. Don't know why they're trying to capture that vibe in this case.

I'm actually happy about this. It goes to show that what he intended for the film and what the trailer depicts are not necessarily the same. The trailer is awful, hopefully the movie is good.
