This is a pretty ugly bust for Warner and Affleck.

Affleck has survived far greater embarrassments than this (Bennifer/Gigli, yikes), so he'll be fine. Good news is that it's looking to come and go with no one caring (every theater that's announced their showtimes this weekend is trimming it down to 2 shows a day, so it's gonna be quickly disappearing once those contracts are up).

WB ended a really good 2016 for them at the box office on a horrible note with two starry busts (Collateral Beauty and this), though.

He didn't direct those movies. I don't think WB is going to smack him around for this, but if it becomes a pattern in the future on other projects...they will be forced to cut back on his budgets and creative control.

They won't sever relatations with him, but will certainly be much more conservative in funding his films in the future.

Agreed that this film being Affleck's baby all the way done (producing, writing, directing as well as starring in) will hurt him in a way that Gigli and Daredevil did not...he could always plead he was just the hired help on those films and had little creative control. But with "Live By Night" Affleck was calling all the shots, and had to take the blame for it not being very good.

This was ok, not bad but not great either, a bit slow, great production values.

And Elle Fanning proves again she can effortlessly do anything, her only rival from her generation is Saoirse Ronan.

It s the prohibition companion to The Town , about a gangster in love trying to have a moral compass in a violent world, through(out?) the women he meets along the way.

I just cannot with Batfleck physical appearance though, he looks so buff, I thought he was going to break Saldana's & Miller s bones when he embraces them.

He did look huge.

A couple  of people have said you have the basis of a good movie, but that Affleck hurts it by his imitation of Scorsese's style.
