Alright, folks. The numbers everyone has been waiting for: DELIVERY MAN!! ($2.76m)

Oh I get it now. Lionsgate is waiting for everybody else to report their shitty numbers first. So when they report CF they can do it with a bang and theirs won't look so bad.

If thats true, we're probably looking at 130-135M OW. Pretty shocking to say the least.  :o

Thanksgiving is next week... if anything, it means CF will have a relatively small drop next weekend. People save a lot of moviegoing for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This will do fine

Well yesterday East Coast did well but not here in Canada.

I say this because it appears Sat business will increase quite a bit here in Canada compared to the rather tame Friday.

However I am not sure if the East Coast will jump much on Sat as they were busier.

Well, in this post-apocalyptic civilization, it's hard to get anything published. I mean, there's widespread looting, savage revolts in Minnesota and Massachusetts, throngs of survivors heading for California in hopes of salvation, only to find out it's also a radioactive wasteland.... no surprise that Lionsgate execs are more concerned with finding fresh water than publishing the actual bleak, devastating numbers.Years from now, as the children of the survivors huddle in their caves around campfires, they'll pass down the lesson learned: we all should've paid our $10.50 to keep civilization afloat instead of selfishly choosing to avoid Katniss.

Why Jennifer Lawrence, 'Hunger Games' shouldn't be catching fire at the box office

“Catching Fire,” the second movie in the “Hunger Games” series, opens this weekend. We are likely to hear a lot about the acting, the film’s pacing, and even how the new director handled the sequel. But what ultimately gets a free pass is the brutal violence and cruelty being marketed to throngs of adoring fans. Despite being “just a movie” this kind of violence should be challenged more than celebrated....

....We don’t need the overt violence and the panicked faces of the characters for a coming of age story to teach us to say no to excesses of wealth and power. The positive themes that the book promotes—sacrificing oneself for one’s family, courageously facing danger, resisting tyranny—share too much of the story with hyped up brutality.

Catching Fire may satisfy an urge for excitement, but it will leave us short of healthy nourishment. As a culture, we can surely do better than this.

  • Founder / Operator

Vaughn keeps getting screwed. The Watch opened on TDKR's second weekend, Internship was killed by about 3-4 big blockbusters, and now Delivery Man with an awful attempt at "counter-programming". The movies themselves may not be near his best, but for a well-liked guy, studios sure seem to have forgotten where to put his movies.

Dreamworks is having a terrible time lately. Wasn't Fifth estate the worst opening of the year? They really should have opened Delivery man last weekend.

At this point, shouldn't DW hire one of us to run the studio?  I think anyone here could release 7 films that are more profitable than the 7 that (don't remember her name) the woman in charge has released lately.

Nikki talked about her.

DreamWorks CEO Stacey Snider keeps presiding over bad box office. 'Delivery Man' her 7th disappointment. Why, given studio's small output.
