It wasn't. It was done because PJ can't ever edit stuff he wants in his movies out. With how huge the LOTR trilogy was, the man could shit $20's for the rest of his life and still be rich. He doesn't need the money, rather he's obsessed with cramming everything he wants into this adaptation.

 

Yes, he's basically playing in his own Tolkien-esque playground. (-esque because he's wandered pretty far from the Professor at this point).

It always astounds me people are surprised how a film like IM3 made 400 million.

 

Sure on these boards MOS and ST2 were the big hyped film of the summer but with GA especially after TA, IM3 was top choice.

Alright so I went to go see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. At this point, I'm lubed up for some Ken Watanabe, Boromir and Legolas Channing Tatum, and of course Christopher Motherfucking Nolan in the trailers. You guys have no idea how ready my body is for these trailers.

 

First up....Maleficent

 

 

Seen this a million times

 

Next up...The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

 

 

Also seen a million times

 

Then Godzilla

 

 

Then 300: Rise of An Empire

 

 

And then 47 Ronin

 

 

Then....

 

The lights dimmed and the movie started.

 

 

Hobbit : 2/10, night ruined.
