Hiccup
March 2-4: Mountains Are Moved At the Mountains of Madness opened spring up with a thunderclap. Pulling 59.1M over the weekend, the R rated sci-fi action flick earned mostly positive reviews and a B+ on the Cinema Score. The film faces competition in the next few weekends so opening strong was important. Twinkie opened well in the limited market and expands over the next few weekends. 1. At the Mountains of Madness- $59,123,248 million 2. MirrorWorld- $19,686,889 million (-42.4%) 3. Daniel Tosh: New and Improved- $8,454,607 million (-50.9%) 4. Love to Die For- $8,183,640 million 5. Reviews were terrible and audiences disliked what they saw with a C on the Cinema Score. At the Mountains of Madness dropped an expected -56% to 26.0M. The film has already passed 100M and a finish over 150M is possible despite competition. 1. At the Mountains of Madness- $26,004,115 million (-56.0%) 2. Espionage Project 2: This Time, It's Espersonal- $20,444,581 million 3. MirrorWorld- $12,875,382 million 4. Love to Die For- $5,101,119 million 5. Daniel Tosh: New and Improved- $4,358,888 million 6. Hush Hush Little Baby- $2,002,392 million Twinkie- $949,753 million March 16-18: Pompeii Gets Buried Over Weekend An over saturated market is mostly blamed for the flopping of Pompeii. With a massive budget of 225M, Wolfgang Petersen’s Rome epic flopped with 28.8M opening weekend. Reviews were mixed and audiences gave it a healthy B+ on the Cinema Score. Espionage Project 2 fall off the charts with 8.2M for a -60% collapse. A finish close to 50M looks like this film’s destination. Darkseed- $1,699,472 million March 23-25: Lost Planet Launches Biggest Start of Year Lost Planet marked the biggest opening of the year with 70.3M. Reviews were strong and audiences liked the film with an A- on the Cinema Score. Keg Party opened well at 650 locations with 4.0M for 6K PTA. Daniel Tosh: New and Improved- $1,282,493 million March 30-April 1: Sci-Fi Duo Dominates While Hairspray Falters Thomas Was Alone exceeded the highest expectations with a terrific 19.6M. Little family competition helped the film succeed. Hairspray opened mediocrely with 18.2M over the three-day weekend and 23.8M over the five-day. Reviews for the film were mostly negative but audiences enjoyed the film with a B+ on the Cinema Score. Lost Planet fell to 36.9M on this second weekend and a finish over 200M is very possible. Films
That hairspray number isn't that bad in my view. A total around 60m I would guess and that's higher than the budget and with international grosses should make this a modest hit, nothing major but nothing terrible. Hush Hush Little Baby is probably the most successful film. Blood Brothers did ok while Bloodbath Unite was a major bomb. When and how do we find out final totals of the films

Hiccup
April 6-8: Lost Planet Narrowly Beats Life Ang Lee’s Life opened along expectations with 19.9M. Word of mouth is good and legs should develop. Lost Planet claimed the top spot with 20.3M and has already surpassed 165M and 200M is locked. Thomas Was Alone dropped well to 12.7M and the animated film is riding on good word of mouth. Next weekend it should fall sharply. Hairspray fell to 9.2M, which is standard drop for most musicals. 1. Lost Planet- $20,295,888 million 2. Life- $19,923,119 million 3. Thomas Was Alone- $12,738,451 million (-35.2%) 4. Hairspray- $9,181,292 million (-49.4%) 5. Pompeii- $4,161,732 million 6. Keg Party- $4,125,550 million 7. At the Mountains of Madness- $2,210,191 million 8. MirrorWorld- $1,552,239 million 9. The Guardian of the West- $1,550,002 million 10. Twinkie- $894,221 million April 13-15 (Easter Weekend): Animation and Horror Dominate Easter A crowded weekend left The Legend of Redwall as the victory with 48.3M. Reviews are terrific and this has no competition for the next few weeks. Horror House was extremely frontloaded and opened with 33.0M despite terrible reviews. The Most Dangerous Game opened below expectations with 22.7M and reviews are mixed to good. Walls of Stone had negative reviews mostly and opened with a horrible 13.3M. Heavy competition contributed to its poor opening. Life dropped very well with the benefit of the Easter weekend to 13.3M but not enough to break up the openers, which dominated the top 4. 1. The Legend of Redwall- $48,256,447 million 2. Horror House- $33,007,225 million 3. The Most Dangerous Game- $22,654,982 million 4. Walls of Stone- $13,333,180 million 5. Life- $13,266,534 million (-33.2%) 6. Lost Planet- $10,150,004 million 7. Thomas Was Alone- $6,445,555 million 8. Hairspray- $4,987,392 million 9. Pompeii- $2,311,188 million 10. Keg Party- $2,220,113 million April 20-22: Horror Continues to Dominate Stephen King’s It: Part 2 opened above expectations with 37.3M. Reviews are good for a horror film but this was a frontloaded opening weekend. Next Vegas disappointed with 8.0M. Legend of Redwall fell very well to 31.3M and 100M domestic should be passed soon. The Most Dangerous Game and Walls of Stone fell very well to 13.5M and 8.2M respectively. Horror House plummeted 77.9% to 7.3M and should quickly round out of the top 10. 1. Stephen King's It: Part 2- $37,324,155 million 2. The Legend of Redwall- $31,345,525 million (-35.2%) 3. The Most Dangerous Game- $13,486,119 million (-40.5%) 4. Life- $9,975,141 million 5. Walls of Stone- $8,217,276 million (-38.3%) 6. Next Vegas- $8,025,125 million 7. Horror House- $7,334,449 million (-77.9%) 8. Lost Planet- $5,715,347 million 9. Thomas Was Alone- 3,667,789 million 10. Hairspray- $3,158,675 million April 27-29: Run and Gun Ends April on a Strong Note Run and Gun opened well above expectations with 50.1M. Reviews were mixed and it is questionable how this will hold up against StarCraft: Brood War next weekend. Stephen King’s It: Part 2 fell 60% to 14.6M, which is good and a 80M finish looks locked. Move and Happy Tree Friends opened mediocrely with 3.4M and 3.3M respectively. 1. Run and Gun- $50,122,098 million 2. The Legend of Redwall- $20,971,001 million 3. Stephen King’s It: Part 2- $14,564,202 million (-60.9%) 4. The Most Dangerous Game- $7,555,793 million 5. Life- $6,888,451 million 6. Walls of Stone- $4,392,777 million 7. Next Vegas- $3,751,760 million (-52.5%) 8. Lost Planet- $3,659,982 million 9. Move- $3,404,432 million 10. Happy Tree Friends- $3,287,392 million

rukaio101
Excellent job on the actuals, Hiccup. And I'm glad both of my films are doing very well. Of course, logically (in my eyes), this means all my other films this year will flop. But I'm happy to take success where I can get it.

Hiccup
May 4-6: May Opens with A Thunderclap StarCraft: Brood War opened on the high end of expectations with 172.2M, which is a terrific start to the Y8 summer season. The film should hopefully reach 400M by the end of its run. Run and Gun plummeted expectedly with -63.5% to an 18.3M weekend tally. Despite the drop, Run and Gun is running well ahead of pre-release expectations. Move opened poorly to 7.7M and should disappear quickly. 1. StarCraft: Brood War- $172,197,884 million 2. Run and Gun- $18,315,556 million (-63.5%) 3. The Legend of Redwall- $15,000,176 million 4. Move- $7,656,922 million 5. Stephen King’s It: Part 2- $7,195,251 million 6. Life- $4,109,997 million 7. The Most Dangerous Game- $3,302,471 million 8. Happy Tree Friends- $1,827,111 million (-45.4%) 9. Walls of Stone- $1,776,189 million 10. Next Vegas- $1,723,737 million May 11-13: Breather Weekend Arrives StarCraft: Brood War easily won the weekend with 69.6M with a very strong drop. 400M is locked. The Academy opened below expectations with a 16.2M weekend. Word of mouth is very mixed along with reviews. Legs are very questionable. The horror remake Christine opened right along expectations with 14.3M. That is a strong summer for a horror film opening in the May season which typically is a poor time to release horror films. 1. StarCraft Brood War- $69,628,202 million (-59.6%) 2. The Academy- $16,158,126 million 3. Christine- $14,275,362 million 4. The Legend of Redwall- $12,928,444 million 5. Run and Gun- $9,454,775 million 6. Move- $4,117,550 million 7. Stephen King’s It: Part 2- $4,115,620 million 8. Life- $2,255,398 million 9. The Most Dangerous Game- $2,007,756 million 10. Happy Tree Friends- $1,254,889 million May 18-20: Openers Open in the Best of Both Worlds Digimon: World Invasion smashed pre-release expectations with 60.1M. Audiences are were hungry for something new and they turned out for this film. Reviews are mostly positive and with an A- Cinema Score, Digimon should play well in the coming weeks. Stranger in a Strange Land fell flat with 29.2M. With a 220M budget, Stranger in a Strange Land is a flop and this marks the second flop for O$corp Pictures. The Academy fell decently to 7.9M and Christine dropped an expected -61% to 5.6M. 1. Digimon: World Invasion- $60,102,251 million 2. StarCraft Brood War- $35,189,329 million 3. Stranger in a Strange Land- $29,234,492 million 4. The Academy- $7,866,521 million (-51.2%) 5. Christine- $5,572,853 million (-60.8%) 6. The Legend of Redwall- $6,579,882 million 7. Run and Gun- $5,003,670 million 8. Move- $2,384,442 million 9. Stephen King’s It: Part 2- $2,350,987 million 10. Life- $1,495,783 million May 25-28 (Memorial Day Weekend): Candy Crush is Crushed The Dresden Files: Stormfront opened with a very strong 43.6M three-day weekend and a 54.5M four day weekend. However this Memorial Day Weekend is actually really quiet compared to past years. Candy Crush got crushed with a miserable 32.2M over the six-day span. The Legend of Redwall’s unexpected success is the biggest contributor along with very bad reviews. Hand Drawn Heroes will destroy any legs for Candy Crush. Digimon fell well to 32.8M and 41.0M and Stranger in a Strange Land dropped to 15.3M and 19.1M. 1. The Dresden Files: Stormfront- $43,623,119 million/$54,500,167 million 2. Digimon: World Invasion- $32,778,281 million (-45.4%)/$40,998,155 million 3. Wed. May 23- Candy Crush- $20,007,291 million/$27,425,723 million (Total- $32,200,200 million) 4. StarCraft Brood War- $18,987,117 million/$23,751,444 million 5. Stranger in a Strange Land- $15,283,575 million (-47.6%)/$19,125,789 million 6. The Academy- $4,345,995 million/$5,404,236 million 7. The Legend of Redwall- $3,498,777 million/$4,666,693 million 8. Christine- $2,775,429 million/$3,515,239 million 9.
