Neither Temple of Doom or Kingdom of the Crystal Skull are that good but at least the mine cart chase in Temple of Doom and a couple other scenes gave me a feeling of excitement, I did not get that feeling even once from Indy 4

The problem with Prometheus is the promise exceeded the pay-off. It would have worked as a large scale popcorn sci-fi.IMO.

I still dig TOD just because it's an Indy movie, but from the standpoint of characters and pacing I think it's the weakest of the four by a slim margin. KOTCS has its issues too, of course.

 

TOD does have one of my all-time favorite Indy gags, though:

Temple of Doom is better than Crystal Skull, but its an ugly, unpleasant movie with a few good moments here and there.

 

Except for the sheer love of its action filmmaking. More than most movies, you can practically sense Spielberg's glee at his ridiculous (and brilliant) sequences.
