The Human Centipede: First Sequence Posted Image

Synopsis

A mad scientist kidnaps and mutilates a trio of tourists in order to reassemble them into a new "pet"-- a human centipede, created by stitching their mouths to each others' rectums.

Critic blurb

Michael Ordoña, Los Angeles Times:
There are terrible movies and there are loathsome movies. And then there's that rare breed so idiotic, exploitative and sickening one wishes they could be scrubbed from memory.

Trivia

Many actresses walked out of the auditions in disgust after discovering what the role actually entailed.

Omfg at 2001 being on here.  And while I don't care for Citizen Kane enough to ever watch it again, its undeniably great in how it was made and it one of the most influential ever on movie making.  Shame on you guys.

Most of this list is a mixed bag, there were 3 great ones early on, and Batman Returns wasn't great but not even one of the worst in the year it came out.

I was hoping if any contrarian choice would be on the list it'd be Birth of a Nation for being a racist, KKK propaganda piece of shit.

Every movie in this series was voted for, but only this one made the Top 36.

Synopsis

Edward leaves Bella after an attack that nearly claimed her life, and in her depression she falls into yet another paranormal relationship- this time with werewolf Jacob Black.

Member blurb
Noctis:
Worst of the series upon repeat viewings. Boring, overly-long, and annoying. Good musical score, and some interesting scenes, though.

Critic blurb

David Edelstein, New York Magazine:
Weitz's pacing is so limp you're going to need the electricity generated by a live audience to keep from yelling, "Hurry it up!"

Trivia

After months of speculation and rumors, director Chris Weitz and the novel's author, Stephenie Meyer, confirmed on her official website that Taylor Lautner would be reprising his role as Jacob Black. It was doubted as the filmmakers feared he would not be able to become fit enough in time. However, he was given the go-ahead after gaining 26 pounds of muscle.

Synopsis

A film detailing the final hours and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Member blurb
CoolioD1:
At first I think I was shocked by the torture stuff, but there's so much of it that I eventually just became bored by it. Bad movie.

Critic blurb

Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader:
If I were a Christian, I'd be appalled to have this primitive and pornographic bloodbath presume to speak for me.

Trivia

Because of their experiences during film production, many of the cast and filming crew converted to Catholicism after the completion of the film. Among those who converted was an atheist who played Judas Iscariot.

Yep, another Zack Snyder film.  Fun fact, Snyder makes the second most appearances on this list as a director with 3 entries.  There is one last film of his that will chart soon, can you guess which it is?

300

Synopsis

King Leonidas and a force of 300 men fight the Persians at Thermopylae in 480 B.C.

Member blurb
Ozymandias:
This is one of the corniest movies ever made.  Also, waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much slow motion, fuck.

Critic blurb

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times:
300 has one-dimensional caricatures who talk like professional wrestlers plugging their next feud.

Trivia

King Leonidas derides the Athenians as "boy-lovers." It was, in fact, the Spartan army that was erroneously thought to encourage homosexual relationships among soldiers due to the fact that a Spartan male would live with his fellow soldiers till about 30 years old.

Synopsis

A young girl is institutionalized by her abusive stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the mental facility.

Member blurb

aDIM:
Boring. Neutered, bloodless action. Very disappointing. It's stylish and has a couple of cool sequences but that doesn't cover up the overall "blah-ness" of the film.
C-

Critic blurb

William Goss, Film.com: Snyder likes to think that his Russian nesting doll of a concept is enough to excuse its hollow center.

Trivia

Vanessa Hudgens says she's looking forward to being seen by a whole new audience that might not necessarily be familiar with her work in the High School Musical (2006) films.

Sucker Punch was pretty bad. Wasn't on my list, but thanks for digging up that quote.

Synopsis

A test pilot is granted an alien ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.

Member blurb
Sam:
This is just god-awful, a total train wreck. I rarely regret watching a movie in theater, but I regret seeing this and The Last Airbender deeply. I actually laugh for a while after the movie has ended because it was just so bad, beyond even my lowest expectations
D

Critic blurb

Dana Stevens, Slate:
Even by the standards of the current run of mediocre comic-book movies, this one stands out for its egregious shoddiness.

Trivia

At one point Clark Kent/Superman was in the script (he had a cameo as one of the candidates considered to receive a power ring), but he was cut out because the filmmakers didn't want to depend on another superhero for a success.

I had no idea 300 was not well liked by a lot of people. I liked it a lot. I liked Batman Returns too, but atleast I know not everyone likes that movie (although I didn't know so many people despised it that much). 300 being on this list has really surprised me. And it's so high up too. I am just really surprised.

Snyder haters, yo.  And this next one should surprise some people, but judging by the reactions on this forum these last few months you'd think that enough people would have voted it to #1.

Man of Steel

Synopsis

A young itinerant worker is forced to confront his secret extrastellar origin when Earth is invaded by members of his own race..

Member blurb
Firedeep:
The action scenes are a huge mess. What a piece of shit.

The biggest problem is Superman is way too weak, patheticly weak. He can not even hold a drilling rig. LOL. And Superman now needs air to breathe. LOL. And firstly in MOS he doesnot even know he can fly. LOL. What a joke.

From 1978 to 2013, Superman on screen has become patheticly weaker and weaker. At first he can fly faster than light and travel through time. And now he is slowly flying and even car crash can hurt him. LOL. The fighting capacity has been lowed like from 10000 to zero. So fucking disappointing.

Stupid Zach and Goyer !!

Critic blurb

Keith Phipps, The Dissolve:
Man Of Steel plunges headfirst into a loud, breathless science-fiction slugfest, offering much spectacle but little wonder.

Trivia

Henry Cavill refused to take steroids to muscle up for the role. He also refused any digital touch-ups or enhancement to his body in his shirtless scenes. He said it would have been dishonest of him to use trickery while playing Superman and he wanted to push his body to the limits to develop his physique into one that was worthy of the character.

Terrible dialogue, flat action scenes, dumb supporting characters, generic plot, and a toneless, uninspired performances by Willis.  Worst film of the franchise and the worst action film since Abduction.

A failure all around.

* out of *****

Critic blurb

Richard Roeper, Richard Roeper.com:
What a disappointment.

Trivia

The Russian gang had no actual Russian members. The roles were played by Slovakian, Hungarian, Serbian, Mongolian and Ukrainian actors.
