I've been meaning to revisit Mulholland Drive for a long time, and I'm glad I finally did. The way the movie, which is about the allure of Hollywood and its broken dreams (or something), just sucks you into this hazy and hypnotic dream-like world is simply dazzling. It's really a movie to get lost in (in more ways than one). The score, by Twin Peaks-composer Angelo Badalamenti, is ethereally beautiful, and Naomi Watts' (who is one my favorite actresses) performance is revelatory and stunning.

I very rarely give out A+ grades, but this movie truly deserves it. In my mind, it sits, alongside City of God, Memento, No Country for Old Men, Oldboy, and maybe Apocalypto, as the best movie of the last decade.

So take a trip to Mulholland Drive, and remember, there is no band.

This weirdo is supposed to have no repeated watch value, but once you started to dig into it, you will find it actually got a great deal of it because you'll never be able to understand most of it if you only watch it twice or three times.

I was gonna watch that one because it had that Mulholland Dr. vibe and because I read that it is the closest Lynch has come to making a horror movie, but then I read some reviews where it said that Lost Highway makes Mulholland Dr. look like The Straight Story and that it is basically Lynch trying too hard to make a Lynchian movie...

It's slightly weirder and darker, but if you bought into MD I can't see why you wouldn't enjoy it. Like all his movies, it's not just weird stuff happening for the sake of it.

I have no idea what the fuck I just watched, but definitely going to need to watch it again. My brief theory involves and a bunch of different personalities (naive, experienced, helpless) and that she was in a dream all this time after the car accident. Its about despair and suicide is another theory I have.

Naomi Watts was phenomenal. The soundtrack is haunting and beautiful.

A+
