rukaio101
Okay, since riczhang seems to be busy and no-one's objected to me offering to run it, here's the new thread. Yey. Rules1. No adaptations or remakes of franchises that currently ( or recently) have films made in real life. So keep away from stuff like Batman, Harry Potter, Hunger Games etc. Some old players do have franchise rights for films that have recent installments in real life, but they acquired the rights back when the rules were a bit more lenient. Sequels and spinoffs to recent films are also forbidden.2. If you do break rule one, ask the other players for permission to make a film based on said franchise. Try at least to adapt a story that hasn't been made to film in real life or take the story in a different direction. Don't just remake a film already in existence.3. Some franchises are already owned by players from the old CAYOM. They have exclusive rights to make the films and decide on their own what to do with them. For example, Numbers owns Star Wars and Dragon Age. Make sure a franchise you want to adapt is not already owned by someone else, so be kind to ask first. Also, you can ask the owner of a franchise if he/she could sell it to you. If a franchise is owned by a player unlikely to return, you can ask others for permission to take over the rights.4. You own exclusive franchise rights to films you make up on your own.5. Some franchises shouldn't be used altogether. Major classic franchises like Indiana Jones or Jurassic Park should be off-limits completely, and some franchises that suffered from overexposure in the old CAYOM should also be off-limits unless permission is granted.6. James Bond and Star Trek are community franchises, since they have a large series of films in their library and most (though not all) of their installments are stand-alone features. If one player grabs the rights to one of these franchises, they have their rights to make a few films (with their own actors, directors etc, actors who've played the characters in real life shouldn't be re-used) before the rights return to the community for someone else to take over. Regarding Star Trek, the Kirk (Original series/Reboot) is off-limits.7. You cannot reserve the rights to classic material in the public domain, like the Bible. You can still make films based off said material and the rights are reserved automatically to your particular interpretation, but others are equally free to make their own. Public domain material created by the internet still needs rights reserving. 4815162342
Also I don't believe Impact is playing anymore, so I think Star Trek should be up for grabs to whoever wants it. But his other franchises I think we should keep off-the-table until through Year 10, just to be safe.

Seriously though, I'll wait until the end of the year before messaging Impact about what he wants done with the rights to his series. If I can't get an answer, the rights will become available, but they'll snap back to Impact if he returns and wants them.

Blankments
WHOA WHOA HOLD ON A SEC Films: [*]Kill Bill [*]The Simpsons [*]Family Guy [*]South Park [*]Wallace and Gromit [*]Wreck-it Ralph He can't have the rights to Wreck-It Ralph. It goes blatantly against what the franchise rules of the game. You can't make sequels to recent films. Also, he can't have the rights to Kill Bill honestly, seeing how I was denied rights to Back to the Future and how you can't get rights in general to classics. Kill Bill is well-known enough to qualify as a classic

Films
Kill Bill is already finished so I think maybe just an exception this time Wreck It Ralph is more just to include the characters in the film as supporting characters more than making a sequel to it. rukaio101
Okay, I shall admit a small bit of a wrongdoing on my part, in that Films didn't specifically ask for the rights to Wreck-it Ralph. I just added them on automatically after reading the synopsis for Candy Crush which, to put it bluntly, involves Ralph and Vanellope waay to much to count as a simple cameo or a minor role or whatever. And there's not enough cameos or involvement from other video game characters for it to count as an ensemble movie like Who Framed Roger Rabbit or this year's Hand Drawn Heroes. Heck, you could already mistake it for a supposed sequel to Wreck-it Ralph considering how much they're involved. It's like having a sci-fi movie where, out of nowhere, Darth Vader turns up halfway and becomes the main villain. I think you're gonna need some sort of rights for that. That said, looking through the rules, I can't find a specific one saying that you can't have the rights/ make sequels to recent films. You can't remake them or create an adaptation to something that's had recently one, but nothing specifically to say you can't make sequels to them. Also, that rule about Major Classic Franchises is really very vague. While, for obvious reasons, I don't think we should do away with it altogether, I think we should probably put together some sort of master list of famous film franchises that are off-limits, just to avoid this sort of mistake in the future.
Alpha
Rukaio, it may not be listed, but we don't want to make sequels or spin offs to real life films. Using WIR characters in Candy Crush would be against those rules because that film is about a year old, which is too recent to be making spinoffs of it.What is the point of adding Ralph and Vanellope to the story anyways? Using WIR characters in Candy Crush would be against those rules because that film is about a year old, which is too recent to be making spinoffs of it. I agree that rule is definitely needed and I'll add it to the list soon, but my point was that Films didn't know about it at the time (and it can't be said (no offense) that he's particularly gifted with common sense) so it might be a bit unfair to force him to remove/rewrite the film (although obviously he's got no excuse if he does that sort of thing again). That said Films, even if it wasn't against the rules I'd suggest you get rid of Ralph and Vanellope anyway. They come the hell out of nowhere, pretty much take over the entire film and it really feels a bit too like a poor fanfic (even for this game).
