Sing | Dec. 21, 2016 | Illumination | Beats Moana domestic. The McConaissance Continues

It look really generic, I wonder if audiences will be bored of talking animal films by the time we get to December. I think it'll be Illumination's second lowing grossing film after Hop.

The problem with Illumination is that they've gotten lazy in terms of storytelling and even the animation seems like they've recycled models from a previous film.

I guess I will never get it - if the film doesn't appeal to you why be vocal about it. It's like the person who never watches horror movies constantly whining about the terrible horror films the studios put out. If everyone or every thing could be Pixar Gold standard then it would be boring and the standard wouldn't be special. I mean y'all are reacting like this is the second coming of Norm of the North...

If I see a horror movie trailer that looks awful I will be vocal about it. Bad movies are inevitable, but if one really does want to appreciate the good stuff they should also acknowledge when a movie looks awful, not just dismiss it as not "being for them". I try not to be biased toward any one genre. They're all capable of great movies and they're all capable of bad ones, and right now this looks like a bad one.

If critics love this, I am prepared for a king size serving of crow (Heck, I just got a big plate of it with Deadpool ). But until then, I'm booking first class on the hate train

Maybe "hate train" was a little strong, but I think it's okay to expect better from major animation studios than this

At B Dubs and saw the trailer played on CBS. No hyperbole, that is the earlier ive ever seen a promo aired on TV.

Early awareness is smart, but there is a such thing as too early.

Sisters was promoted during the Golden Globes last year 11 months before it opened (since Tina and Amy were hosting the show).

This Christmas slate is a mess:

Sing is only going to appeal to the young crowd

Passengers might not be a mainstream movie and for older audiences only

Assassins Creed is only for teens+ and probably R

Collateral Beauty is a wildcard but still probably only for older audiences

Fortunately, there's one to bring balance to the Holiday Box Office. A Rogue One.

But seriously, it'll stand perfectly among INTERSTELLAR, TRUE DETECTIVE, KILLER JOE, and SEA OF TREES for the McConaissance.

Jlaw getting the Juno Temple treatment in Killer Joe would have been glorious.

We were this close, Friedkin was in love  and ...
