The ALL TIME OSCARS

Recommended Posts

I always though it would be fun to have an ALL TIME Oscars ceremony where the Academy voted on every movie ever made and lumped all movies into a ceremony.

I thought it could be a blast to do this and see what this forum comes up with.

Here is how it works:

For each category, you can nominate up to 10.  When the nomination deadline is up, the film/actor etc. that has the most nominations will earn an "official" nomination.

Because we are dealing with sooooo many movies, I figure we can have 10 official nominations to keep it interesting.  Once we have the official 10 nominees, people will rank those 1-10.  10 points given to 1st all the way down to 1pt given for 10th.

With us being able to vote for any movie, it's quite possible that individuals could get multiple nominations in the same category. For example, Spielberg could show up for multiple directing efforts or Pacino or DeNiro could possibly be nominated for Best Actor in multiple roles.

The categories will be what the Oscars are this year:

Best Motion Picture

Best Lead Actor

Best Lead Actress

Best Supporting Actor

Best Supporting Actress

Best Director

Best Original Screenplay

Best Adapted Screenplay

Best Animated Feature

Best Foreign Language Film

Best Achievement in Cinematography

Best Achievement in Editing

Best Achievement in Production Design

Best Achievement in Costume Design

Best Achievement in Makeup/Hairstyling

Best Original Score

Best Original Song

Best Achievement in Sound Mixing

Best Achievement in Sound Editing

Best Achievement in Visual Effects

Best Documentary

Best Documentary Short Subject

Best Animated Short Film

Best Live Action Short Film

Then I thought we could have some BONUS "FUN" categories:

Best comedic performance

Best Opening Sequence

Best Ending

Best Quote

Best Character

Greatest Hero

Best Villain

Best Ensemble Cast

***For best character (and for the most part hero/villain), you can't nominate the same character portrayed by the same actor in multiple movies.  (No voting Indiana Jones in Raiders and in Temple of Doom). You could only vote for that character played by Harrison Ford once.  Conversely, you could nominate Jack Nicholson's Joker and Ledger's Joker for separate spots as the character is played by different actors.  Hope that made sense!

Deadlines:

1st Deadline: Nominations are due SATURDAY FEB. 8th

2nd Deadline: Rankings of official nominations due on Oscars Sunday (March 2nd)

Winners will be announced soon after or within a few days after the Oscars ceremony.

I hope we get some participation.  You can feel free to post them in this thread or PM your noms to me.  Have fun....

Some great picks mahnamahna.  I'm afraid my original score picks will be littered with John Williams everywhere as well.

To be honest, John Williams and Alan Menken have impacted so many childhoods but I'm hoping that Bernard Hermmann and Jerry Goldsmith get featured as well

Are we counting Morgan Freeman in the Leading Actor or Supporting Actor for Shawshank Redemption? Because I can see people putting him in both.

In the actual academy awards, he was nominated for Leading Actor for that film but he seems a bit more like a Supporting Actor to Tim Robbins's lead.

Great idea! Will do, but I def, def think you can add in a spot for Best Ensemble. I still don't know why the Oscars don't.

That sounds good to me.  I will add it to the top post.

For people who have done their noms, add in best ensemble cast as well.

This is the All Time Oscars. No one should be forced to pigeonhole someone into a category they think doesn't suit the actor/actress.
