QoS was a nice change of pace after Casino Royale. It really feels like classic Bond for the most part, if only the quick cuts were less and the script was polished a bit more(it got affected by the writers strike at the time), would have been regarded highly. Olga Kurylenko was pretty good and one of the underrated Bond girls imo.

I liked Skyfall a lot when I saw it on the opening day in theaters, but it hasn't aged very well for me. The third act is bloated and bit of a chore to sit through.

Spectre starts with a bang and I feel the long take opening sequence is the most memorable thing of the entire Craig era, but then it becomes dull for a long time. The car chase in Rome feels more like a commercial than a chase from a Bond movie. But I do like the train fight scene, it feels like a throwback to From Russia with Love. Bautista is great and could have been a recurring baddie like Jaws.

Unpopular opinion: I don't care for the long opening shot on Spectre. It adds nothing and stops for no reason. If Mendes had the courage/ability to make the entire pre-credits sequence one shot and incorporate the action scene into it then maybe it could have been praise-worthy.

Just checked second weekend bookings at the BFI IMAX, pretty much every decent seat is gone for all but the late night shows. Should be a nice long tail after the first weekend

Something tells me that Venom 2 and Halloween Kills might miss out on IMAX in the UK. Doubt anything takes IMAX until Dune.

well i meant WW, not USA. i barely see any hype for bond in different boards whereas dune has had a lot of talk for weeks. plus dune's numbers OS are great so far

Talk about doubling down on a losing hand. Bond will annihilate Dune in WW gross.

Thinking about Casino Royale and Skyfall, two films widely considered the best modern Bond films I thought about analogy to Nolan Dark Knight trilogy.

Both Skyfall and Dark Knight were the most successful entries in their respected franchises, (as Nolan's trilogy and Craig's Bond run) most popular ones, and probably seen by majority of general audience as best ones. Meanwhile in reality imo the first ones in their respected sets of films, Batman Begins and Casino Royale ended up being the best ones.

I can't agree that Batman Begins was a better film than TDK. The latter I felt gave us a lot more to chew on

I think the easy explanation for that is people have actually seen Dune. The premier took place at the Venice Film Festival and several markets are already playing it. The boards I'm on outside this site are seeing big buzz in the UK (of course) and much of Western Europe. Anecdotally, I'm seeing buzz where I live in the States.
