Which means we should be getting a trailer fairly soon.

Though it could be awhile yet. A decent comparable would be The Fate of the Furious. That released on April 14, 2017 and we didn't get the first teaser until December 11, 2016. I guess that would make a lot of sense too, releasing the first teaser for Bond with Star Wars in December.

What I find interesting mostly is that all the previous Bond films (since Goldeneye) usually finish filming 3-4 months before the release date.

Your idea about the first teaser dropping with Star Wars makes sense too, though: what better way to get as many people to see the trailer than on the biggest release of this December?

How does this doofus not understand that James Bond is 110% a male fantasy?  You turn it into Jane Bond that fundamentally changes the appeal of the franchise and kills it dead in its tracks commercially.   Its nowhere near the same as turning Thor or Captain America into a women.

Who cares about posters now anymore. The original ones had more explosive appeal. Casino Royale had good poster art.

But now the quality of the film better be good, that’s all that matters.

Oh, but he does. he is simply a hasbeen that needs 15 min of fame and the easiest way to become short-term relevant these days is to say "male hero should be female or white hero should be black or straight hero should be gay or cis hero should be trans". Boom. 15K re-tweets within 15 min. Goal achieved.

  Brosnan didn't say anything Craig hasn't said - a few times.   He was asked, he answered.

Bond is male fantasy and making him a woman removes what made him appealing. We all know that. But be a celebrity who dares state such truth and you have twitter shitstorm although everyone and their mother knows female Bond wouldn't work. nevertheless, you can think that and discuss it with friends or on fan forums but you can't say it as your official stance if you are a celebrity because freakzoids who know you are reasonable will act like you are not.

I still stand by that Brosnan is just fishing for short term relevance.

remember when JJ was asked about gay characters in SW? Of course he said yes, we need gay characters. never mind that not only he didn't include any in his SW but also straightened a character some fans thought/wanted to be gay. He had to say that he absolutely wants this to happen. They all talk the talk because they'd suffer backlash if they didn't. Simple. Question like "should there be a female Bond?" is designed to provoke a yes. It's dare say no.

I honestly don't care too much what they say. Broccoli was pretty up-front about the chances of a female James Bond when they asked her.
