my actual guess for who'll do the theme tune is lewis capaldi. i'm not a fan of his music but he's blown up in the UK this past year. he does the kind of ballady singing they like for this sort of stuff.

Way too much happening in that trailer but hopefully it'll be more clear in the actual film. Didn't think they were gonna make a direct sequel to Spectre but it seems like that's what they're doing. The trailer didn't seem to really play up the fact this is Daniel Craig's last Bond film maybe they'll emphasise it more in future trailers and marketing.

No OST news yet?

Dan Romer was confirmed as the composer months ago, but as for singer and songwriter, there's been nothing yet.

It's not particularly serious if we don't hear about anything until January (3 months before release) on this front-the singers for Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were announced at a similar timeframe, and it wasn't until Skyfall was 4-6 weeks away that Adele's involvement was confirmed.

There was a rumour a few weeks ago that Romer has left the film...

This is the first time I've heard it.

If it is the case (and as far as I know, it hasn't been officially confirmed), I've just checked the IMDb pages for a couple composers to see if they could be hired on short notice to succeed him:

  • David Arnold-he's working on the upcoming Dracula miniseries by Moffat & Gatiss, but aside from that his schedule looks clear enough that he could return to the franchise
  • John Debney-journeyman composer, his schedule looks (surprisingly, given his workrate) clear for the future (at the moment, his only film for 2020 is Come Away, which is premiering at Sundance)
  • Alexandre Desplat-the only film he has coming up in 2020 is The French Dispatch, so unless he has a secret project in the works, he could also do it without much conflict in his schedules
  • Patrick Doyle-only upcoming projects are Kenneth Branagh's Artemis Fowl and Death on the Nile adaptations; Artemis has been in post-production for over a year and a half, so he's probably got the score finished, and Nile isn't due until October 2020, so he has plenty of time to work on Bond
  • Hildur Guðnadóttir-she's already being talked about as a potential Oscar contender for Joker, and if EON and Fukunaga are sufficiently interested/impressed by her work, they might decide to hire her (her schedule seems free for now, by the way, and being hired to do the score for NTTD would be a heck of a career boost)
  • Howard Shore-a legendary composer, he has the resume to deliver a more than capable score for the film, and his only upcoming film will be released in January, which means he probably has the score finished, and most likely has the time to work on Bond.

Why isn't Thomas Newman returning?

Presumably he was tied up working with frequent collaborator Sam Mendes on 1917, plus Cary Joji Fukunaga preferred to use someone he’s worked with in the past on the score (he recently worked with Dan Romer on Netflix’s Maniac, great score too so I have faith he’ll turn in a good Bond score).

Makes sense. Too bad, though, because I've loved Newman's Bond scores.

Bond 5 seems like the best movie of next year. --And there's not much else, apart from it. To shed a light on why the near future looks so bleak and dire, here's the Concise Shay Guide to 2020. I've used the IMDB Top 50 list by current popularity:

Great:

No Time to Die

Onward

Mulan

Death on the Nile

Minions: The Rise of Gru

Cheap Fun:

Black Widow

The Call of the Wild

The Gentlemen

Dolittle

Top Gun: Maverick

Trolls World Tour

Raya and the Last Dragon

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway

Highly Questionable:

Birds of Prey

Wonder Woman 1984

Tenet

Eternals

Ghostbusters

Bill & Ted Face the Music

Morbius

West Side Story

Jungle Cruise

Chaos Walking

Venom 2

A Quiet Place: Part II

The Witches

Uncharted

Last Night In Soho

Dune

Shouldn’t Be Made:

Sonic the Hedgehog

Godzilla vs. Kong

Fast & Furious 9

Bloodshot

The New Mutants

Soul

Monster Hunter

Artemis Fowl

Greyhound

Boss Level

Now You See Me 3

Now You See Me 3 has been in development hell since 2016-no cast, director, or official release date has been set, and there's been no news about production.

So I think that's one film you can strike off the list.
