i like her ok. when i listen to a song on its own it's fine but i tried to listen to her album and the whisper vocals get realllllly monotonous after 4 or 5 songs. out of all the popular choices they could get she's probably one of the best options though.

Is Billy Ellish a terrible musician or am i just becoming a boomer?

She won basically all possibly big awards recently, so even if you don't like her, she is a great option commercially

And also, personal tastes apart, she write and produced her own stuff alone with her brother, which will probably be a good selling point for Oscar campaign next year

"She is terrible by my 1980's standards"

"Michael Jackson is terrible by my 1950's standards"

"Elvis Presley and the Beatles are horrible by my 1930's standards"

My thoughts on her music aside, she seems very humble and nice so good for her, especially being as young as she is

IMO, the choice of Billie Eilish is emblematic of my overall concern with this film, that it's being Americanized too much.

die another day - madonna / american

casino royale - chris cornell / american

another way to die - alicia and jack white / american

Or to go back:

"You Only Live Twice" Nancy Sinatra

"Spy Who Loved Me" ("Nobody Does It Better") Carly Simon

"Goldeneye" Tine Turner

"Octopussy" ("All Time High') Rita Cooledge

"LIcense To Kill" (Gladys Knight)

 All Americans

And, let's face it, when it comes to these kind of pop songs sort of hard to tell, just from listening, if the singer is British or American.

I'm seeing Parasite on Friday and feel like I've just been majorly spoiled.

Not a spoiler. The house (and the street it's on) that is prominently featured in Parasite was actually a set, so they could work around using specific shots for the film, rather than an actual house used.

Just people impressed by film production ingenuity, that's all.

My point about this film being Americanized moves beyond the lead singer. It extends to Fukunaga. Then there's Hans Zimmer (I know he's German, but over the past two decades he has defined American action cinema scores). The main villain is an American actor for the first time since License To Kill. And there's rumors the film will approach 3 hours in length.... It all just feels very American for a Bond film.
