Weekend 1st - 4th December 2011 (AU) - Twilight is still breaking dawn, Jack & Jill is up in second

Recommended Posts

Australian Box Office - 1st to 4th December 2011

Three weekends ago, the 4th twilight movie and the first of a 2 parter opened with a disappointing 12m. This saw another standard drop and a continuation of it's disappointing run. Breaking Dawn Part 1 has now amassed a tidy but disappointing 24m. This is some 3.4m behind Eclipse at the same point and way off New Moon which it trails by over 6m. Given New Moon made 8m more from this point with a higher weekend gross (2.5m), Breaking Dawn could in fact be in danger of not reaching the 30m mark here in Australia, especially given the competition in the coming weekends. In second place, Jack and Jill opened to a surprisingly strong number considering it's US release. Jack & Jill managed a 6k average and a 1.8m OW. As expected, it was down on Sandlers movie from earlier this year, Just go with it which opened with nearly 2.4m. The rest of the top 5 was a string of holdovers. The inbetweeners continued it's strong run with a further 1.6m thought it was a heafty 45% off it's opening weekend indicating some frontloading on that film. Immortals saw a standard 50% dip for this kind of film and has now made a disappointing 3m. Rounding out the 5 was the Ides of March which continued it's strong run in a limited number of screens and also produced a top 20 best average for the week. All numbers are in Australian Dollars and the chart figures are taken from Urban Cinefile.
