No Thinkpiece about the Male Gaze for this yet ?

I am disapoint.

:(

This was always there, in some critiques of the original manga works and anime film itself (though largely unwarranted).  LOGAN actually deserves much more critique of its treatment of women.

Saw first 12 mins. That Clint Mansell score. That 3D and those visuals. That hint of Kenji Kawai (his theme will appear in the end credits for sure). Everything else...getting a very, uhh....Assassin's Creed vibe from this? Anyway, need to see this again (which I am in IMAX tomorrow) and the full film obviously - for which expectations are lowered and in check.

Haven't seen Assassin's Creed so don't know what the reference is.  But I'm guessing it doesn't sound good.

Well, if Clint Mansell is scoring this then at least one thing in this movie will be fantastic.

The score in the footage I saw is gawd level, I will not be surprised if it's the single most praised element if the film.

It looks expensive to me. I know Lucy was a freak hit but I'm sure they're aiming for at least somewhere around there.

Lucy was a giant 463 million hit from one of the most popular director in the world, made with a very proven in the past commercial high concept.

I really doubt they are aiming for at least 450 million, it does seem much less accessible, that would be a extraordinary result, it does seem like it has excellent production value, so they are probably aiming at healthy numbers thought.

Some maybe relevant previous movie target

Chappie: 85dbo/115intl, 200WW

Uncharted if it would have got a summer 2016 release and at a 121 million dollar budget: 125dbo/200intl, 325 WW

Elysium (125 million budget): 125/175, 300WW

After earth (149.4 million budget): 160dbo/240intl, 400WW

I would imagine that they are aiming at something like Elyisum, 300million WW would be really great, specially if it is low on China box office.

It is not a coincidence he was given one of the biggest budget of all time for a non-american movie with Valerian.
