A masterpiece in crime dramas. De Niro, Pacino, Kilmer, Sizemore, Voight, Judd, Portman, and even Trejo are all fantastic in this. Just fantastic. I miss the days when they made great movies like this. Elliot Goldenthal's soundtrack is perfect for the film, and especially the choice of track for the last scene. This really is an under-valued masterpiece.

Not only one of the best crime dramas, this is also simply one of my favorite films.

You really can't go wrong with De Niro, Pacino, and Kilmer all at the top of their game, and a talented director behind the camera. But perhaps what I like most about the film is how it almost behaves like a character study through long stretches of the running time.

One of the few films deserving of the following grade:

A

Goddamn it it is a bit unrealistic at times but I just saw it for like the 10th time and its 1 am and I am dog tired but I still sat through the whole thing even though my eyes were shutting off like at 8 pm ( had a looooong day after a night with very little sleep )

Watched it again last night.  It is a terrific film.  DeNiro has never been better and if there was ever a film he should have won for, it should have been this.  The big scene with DeNiro and Pacino is great but the rest of the cast is fantastic as well.  One of the most powerful scenes in the film is the part when Pacino comforts the dead hookers mom.  I don't know why but it gets to me every time.
