Saw it on Friday, have had a few days to digest it. Some thoughts:

- Tony and Steve had a lot of good moments to shine before they were written out. I'm especially happy about the latter as he was barely in Infinity War.

- A big meh on Fat Thor and Professor Hulk.

- How the fuck did they have a "badass women of the MCU" moment without Black Widow? Otherwise yeah that was nice.

- Thankfully the jokes are reigned in. The only bit of levity that I disliked the was the score stopping after the failed Thanos snap.

- Took way too long to start. There was a good 25 minutes or so where I was legitimately bored.

- I love Carol's haircut.

- The time traveling logic is pretty bad. If they were gonna go sentimental at the end, they shouldn't have set up such clear rules earlier.

Overall I liked Infinity War more, but this was good. I just predict this having zero re-watch value for me.

When the ladies flank Marvel, I could hear my eye-roll.

I like the cut because her long hair was bothering me during her movie; kept thinking she needed a scrunchie.

Actually, my immediate reaction at the moment when I first saw him was “He looks like Clint Eastwood.” It was just that first angle on him, and how he was squinting.

Carol with long hair > Carol with haircut >>>>>>>> Mohawk Carol

I don’t hate her haircut as much as some, I just find it aesthetically off for some reason. (Kind of like when Superman had that mullet.)

But I rolled with it because I know there’s been a trend to try to present multiple iterations of character’s designs in the MCU. And because at least I know Rocket agrees with me. And because, like you, I’m at least grateful it’s not that mohawk.

I don't know what the Black Widow movie's plot will be or when exactly its going to take place.  All I need from this movie is for it to be a tribute to her character and give some closure to her story.  If it can achieve that, I'll probably cry at some point.

Saw a theory that it could be a prequel with some soul world stuffed in it.

She still lost to Thanos.

And then he had the gauntlet. Without Stark's intervention (and using his brain), they would have lost.

So, I don't agree. There was tension, and the fact they would have lost with just her proves that.

She and Thanos definitely traded blows, but overall he got the better of her—just barely.

One lady he didn’t get the better of was Wanda.  Woowee, it was nice to see her get hers after what he did (will do?) to Vision.

Can’t help feeling the ending would be more emotionally satisfying if Tony Stark drowned in a puddle.

So what do you think the Phase 4 slate will look like?

May 2020:  BW

Nov 2020:  The Eternals

Feb 2021:  Captain Marvel 2

May 2021:  Black Panther 2

Nov 2021:  Dr. Strange 2

Feb 2022:  Shang-Chi

May 2022:  GOTG Vol. 3

July 2022:  Spider-Man 3

Feb 2023:  X-Men

May 2023:  NEW AVENGERS?!

New Avengers would include:

Captain Marvel

Black Panther

Spider-Man

Shang-Chi

Eternals

X-Men

Solid lineup.

The movie was great but the end when Steve ran away to the past because he was so thirsty and didn’t care about his responsibilities at present time or about fucking up the timeline was definitely eyebrow raising

I see:

Shang-Chi to '20 Nov

The Eternals to '21

Captain Marvel to '22

I don't think we'll have X-Men by 2023, I have no idea what 2023+ looks like.

Edit: Also Sony loves to push a Spider-Man out every two years, so somehow Spider-Man 3 in '21. Black Panther to '22?

I haven't heard anything, but then again they are always tight lipped.  I imagine marvel wants this out in 2 years, no more than 3.

Warping from the past to the present doesn't change the present.  Remember, this isn't Back to the Future, so no one is getting erased from existence.  You just materialize in the new timeline while the old one is fucked and branches off.
