woo! :) sorry about making one :P i was just impatient! I'm going with 1.2 for moneyball this weekend. And 550 for Shark night, I don't see it doing better then the Thing. The Debt is also going to be pretty low.In Time to lead with moneyball 2nd, I don't know how she does it 3rd, and PA3, SN and MiP to battle it out for 4th :) (with The Debt to slot in somewhere :P ) :)

i'll putting some more effort into setting this thread and possibly other threads relating to the Aussie box office - for example one to discuss the current box office and release dates. I would like to split it up a bit more say for example post the numbers in a seperate thread each week to discuss rather than a single thread, cause that huge thread became insane to find anything on BOM.thoughts guys on how best to run this thread / threads....... (unless i can convince shawn to create some sub boards - when he gets time of course and i understand ~ if your reading this thread shawn / other mods (can't remember all the names right now ;) ~ I think it make it more interesting to split this into better threads... I think there is enough interest in both the UK and Australian numbers especially to drive enough threads. .... but you know ) ... //Sales pitch over//ok guys thoughts on how to run this going forward. and yes i will be reviving Box Office Down Under soon.- jajang

Tintin did get a lot of airplay (never new it was a comic before that though) - i only ever knew the tv series. played a lot on the ABC. in saying that, it's got the must see vibe for christmas. I think 20m is manageable. now just remember that tintin is released on the 26th december in australia. (a monday). It's facing Happy Feet 2 (a big danger I think to this films prospects), tower heist (different genre), and we bought a zoo. Puss in Boots will be already int he market (9th Dec), MI4 from 16th Dec. Alvin 3 hits on the 1st Jan. Sherlocke on the 5th. Muppets on the 12th, Dragon Tattoo (english version - note the foreign version did well here) on the 12th also. It's got a heck of a lot of competition so the film had better be good if it wants to survive.Puss -> 5m ? / 22m MI4 - > 3m (I see a failure here for some reason) / 13mHF2 -> 5m / 30m (depends on quality of film of course) NB 4m is the first full weekend.TH -> 2m/11m (same as HF2)Tin Tin -> 3m / 17m (as per HF2)Alvin 3 -> 6m / 22mSherlock - 8m / 23m (similar to i am legend type run i'm thinking.)Muppets - i have no idea how they will play.DT - not sure how well audiences will take to another version of DT given the first was popular here. (it made over 5m here in basically limited release)

Errr ummmm. How do I take the top post now???????? This doesn't work? The first was to filled with data. This thread starts with ball lighting. No offense intended for ball. But untended to put info at the top of the thread.

Nah it's all fixed now..... work in progress on the first 4 posts now.... will start populating over the weekend. note - i'll be creating a seperate new thread each week (linked to here) to discuss that weeks numbers in australia - i guess some of those could be quiet but will be quite busy around the time of BD1 hitting. So who here thinks BD1 can beat New moons opening weekend.I think it will be short but should be able to manage around 15m or so still.I'm going with 15.1m/35m (so weaker than new moon but stronger than eclipse)- jajang

the coming weekend could be very quiet also...... hmmmmMoneyball ?The Debt ?Shark Night ?Looking at that... In Time could well Threepeat here. hmmm not good... hoping Moneyball could break out a bit cause i doubt the debt or shark night will make a dent here.
