Thanks RTH.

So after 2 weekends IW is sitting in 14th spot on the AUS all time list. Not bad.

Not quite. Sitting at 19th I believe. It'll hop over a bunch over the next week or so though.

Apparently Event Cinemas has decided to introduce a "no free tickets" list for new release films.  Currently you can't use Cinebuzz Rewards points to see A:IW, Deadpool 2 or Solo.

It seems to have been introduced in the last week or so.

They've also just added this restriction.

"Free Movies Tickets are not available on film titles distributed in Australia by Universal Pictures International Australasia Pty Ltd."

https://www.eventcinemas.com.au/terms

I assume this one is an edict from Universal.  I guess that's a no to using points for Jurassic World.

My reply to Event Cinemas:

"Hi

Thank you for your reply.  That's very disappointing.  This is a very sneaky introduction of a "no free tickets" list for Cinebuzz redemption's.  There doesn't seem to have been any notification of this new policy plus it took me a while to actually discover where it is indicated on the website.  It only seems to show if you hover the pointer over a session time.  You really should clearly list it next to a film.  Did you send an email about the change?  Did you post it somewhere on social media?

It seems like a rather backdoor way of devaluing Cinebuzz Reward points without increasing the redemption cost.  Will this be a permanent change?

Also, can you confirm that points can no longer be used for any film released by Universal Pictures International Australasia Pty Ltd?"

Tracking well... I think I was a bit optimistic on last weekends hold but looking at where we are at, I think 70m is doable... not locked... but a total 60m is all but locked at this point. bar a complete collapse that is.

Hell nah, giving a year's subscription to a start-up service that may or may not be around after a while definitely sounds like a bad idea.

Yes.  I noticed that.

They still haven’t responded.
