The winning design for a tower at 505 George St has been announced.  It will mean over half of the highest grossing cinema in Australia will be out of action for a number of years.  It's expected new cinemas will be integrated into the podium.

From the left is an existing multi story apartment building, then the short brown building is the Albion Place Hotel, then Albion Place laneway and the the squarish short flat structure is the remaining part of the cinemas at 525 George St.  The tall tower in the middle is the new building at 525 George St.
