TFA is the only one that has come close with A$94m. Dare I say it'll be another 10 years before it's beaten.

Wrong way around TFA was around 2m, Avatar was like 3.8m. Pretty good for a single screen :), off the cuff it was one of the highest grossing cinemas in the world to run it. Imagine if they had AEG

Thanks. Oops. So, Endgame is probably missing out on around $2m due to 1 screen being out of action. 

 

Silver lining. Disney’s schedule change for Avatar 2 means Sydney IMAX is a lock. 

 

Is that Hoyts dropping IMAX or IMAX dropping Hoyts?

Updated AEG Showdown.....

 

As you can see, AEG's weekdays like IW have dropped off.  still the highest at this point in it's run however TFA is catching fast and Avatar is locked to pass sometime around week 7 or 8.  There is a still chance AEG makes it to TFA's total over 94m however it appears more likely a total sub 90m is on the cards now.  (though if AEG can hang onto screens more than IW did last year (see it's epic drop in Week 8 ), then maybe it can creep past TFA thanks to the June/July School Holidays.

Really shows the weekday advantage that TFA and Avatar had being released mid December.. 

 

You said it though, TFA is probably just out of reach for AEG, but that in no way means I'm disappointed. It is going to make $80m+ which is just mental here

quick update ~ AEG looks on track for around 86m finish at this point.  the 2 extremes below (for my range) are AIW and the Avengers (original) from this point - both of those made just under what AEG did, so quite comparable

 

EDIT - Just noting that AEG is still leading all other films at this point however will soon  drop behind TFA and eventually Avatar.  (i think TFA will surpasse it at the same point its run this coming weekend, while Avatar won't manage that until  Week 6 i think)
