With school holidays starting in our most populated city this weekend coming, a flat weekend or even increase is definitely on the cards.$20m is pretty much locked at this stage. It will be close to $13.5m come Wednesday, and then $16.5m-$17.5m by COB Sunday 14 April.

Wow, that's a huge average especially for a re-release. They haven't done well here, have they? I was surprised by how low the theatre count was though.

Do you live in Australia? The ad I saw on TV the other night said "in theatres one week only". Didn't specify IMAX. Can someone please confirm/deny this for me?

$5.5m WK for The Croods which means $2.1m M-W - a full $500k over my optimistic prediction!

so after 2 full weeks, the croods has reached 13.5m

 

for comparison:

 

At the same point

Ice Age 4 had 19.3m.  (went on to make past 27m)

Madagascar 3 had 11.2m (went on to make it past 24m)

Ice Age 2 had 15m (went on to make nearly 24.6m) (of note this had a similar release date around easter time)

monsters vs aliens had 12.1m and went on to make 20.5m

 

given this i think the croods is heading for around the 22m mark at the moment.

Don't forget NSW goes on school holidays this week, so it might hold better then those other films in the next two weeks.
