The first page of this thread is a good source :D.

Yeah Crocodile Dundee has the highest admissions by quite a bit, by over a million with 8,992,428 admissions. Cracking number. Titanic and Avatar are 2nd and 3rd. Anyone know the total admissions to date for TFA?

My gut feeling is TFA has a chance at USD all time figure in Aus held by Avatar which is $105.7m, but not really a chance at the admissions record. I may be wrong though.

to reach Avatar's USD record, TFA needs about 143m i think to pass that.  so i doubt that is happening.

To be honest the admissions record is about 135m to 140m for TFA, so if the USD record falls i think admissions will also (If we go back further we have no chance of being the all time admissions.... Gone With the Wind is the all time #1 but i'm not convinced that 500m+ equivalent is correct - see the old moviemarshal website for more info... )

Croc dundee is #2 at the moment.  Star Wars (the original) is currently 5th just behind Avatar which is about 115m to 120m adjusted even today (thanks to it's high 3D share of course)

So I doubt TFA can reach either the USD or Admissions records but it will certainly be very high on both charts....

Oh ... Last weekends Top 20:

That heavy drop by TFA will be offset by this weekends increase.

Nice start for Daddy's Home.  TGD probably about expected.  Alvin has to be disappointing.  Joy started about where i expected also...

Thanks mate. So $143m for Avatar is the USD all time record in Australia? I thought it was $105m. Just going by the data in the charts on the first page of this thread. Or are we talking about $143m as Avatar adjusted USD gross?

105m USD equates to 143m AUD. we've nearly hit 60m AUD.

Here is my updated comparison chart...

I'm using estimates for this weekly #'s (Mon-Wed)...... There is no real apples for apples comparison here... Avatar still remains the closest thanks to the dates, but i just don't know where it's heading right now.  I mean the 2nd weekend drop was worse than Potter but then the weekdays are more than triple making that comparison nearly useless now.  I currently see (looking at the comparisons) a 3rd weekend between 10m and 14m.  (yeah i know, a big range, but i just don't know at the moment.) if you look at Avatar you would think a 3rd weekend of about 10.5m seems about right.

Wednesday was $2.9m for a week total of $22.4m and a complete total of $60.95m.

If today can get around the same (it's looking like it), then the Monday-Thursday of SW's second week would be in the top 10 OW :o:o:o

is that US or AUS dollar?

$1.8m for Star Wars on NYE. Victoria leading the way again with it's more liberal opening hours with over 35% coming from there.

Today is looking surprisingly quiet. I hope it's not a national trend because I'd struggle to see how it could make more then $2.5m with my sites numbers.

Hangover?  In my observation ppl who partied with alcohol.... need sometimes 1/2 day till fit for out of the house again. Depending on how much and which kind of mix (  ) they did

The mornings are always very quiet, but even the rest of the day is pretty dead. Admittedly last year was a high 30C's day.. We'll see how it goes.

Thur $1.8-9m

Fri $2.7m

Sat $4m

Sun $3.5m

Maybe something like that? $12m weekend?

Weather IMHO plays if it is a depressing looking one or too dangerous one.... can play IMHO for some days way more into said day's BO performance than some (usually never having lived in a region with such conditions?) might think.

We have this New Year Day foggy weather that dosn't even look inviting to go out with the dog, in my reagion is also black ice alarm and fou my state's capital (not country, I hope the terms right) they issued an IS terror/security alarm, with the main train station... evacuated. I am pretty sure todays numbers will (in my region) pretty bad for each of those reasons alone. Or people go to the cinema to forget for a while...

Hope you all have a nice start into the new year (and that it stays so)

Bad weather usually drives business in Germany though. It's the good weather you need to fear ;)

Might be one of the reasons why German cinema has struggled a bit over the recent past. Hollywood throws out most of its big stuff in the summer-time, which is contrary to the movie-going ways of Germans, who prefer the winter, where your options to do other things are a bit limited. Nothing kills the market more efficiently (apart from a certain World Cup) than a big summer heatwave.
