FF7 1st week looking to be over 22m

Thanks @Rth That's a very good number.

Here are the FF7 numbers for reference.  The final weekend figure was $14.62m.  FF7 was very strong through the whole week.  I suspect BvS will fall behind.

I have to agree @DeeCee

If BVS was opening at or above FF7's record Easter ow, it needed an OD > 4m.

Still 3.4m is a great start and about in line with my expectations (maybe top end of that though).

Im expecting it to translate to a 13.5m to 14.5m weekend.

Mbfgw2 got $0.65m. Zootopia beat out Kung Fu Panda for around $0.3m each.

Bad start for KFP3.  If it can't even match zootopia's 2nd weekend it's not a good sign.

Should have kept kept the film in Jan.

Event cinemas opened in North Lakes yesterday and looks like no one knows.

Booked tickets for BvS for this Sunday and practically every showing is empty, same with today and Saturday. Quite weird considering how big North Lakes is now and the fact everyone was begging for it to open.

Fun fact:

at at the moment I'm projecting 14m as the ow for BVS. if anyone had me last year deadpool would out open BVS I would have laughed them off the edge of the world. But here we are -

deadpool = 14.9m ow

bvs = projected 14m ow even with Easter.

With the low rating it seems to be getting so far., I'm not sure it can stretch itself to 40m which should have been the bar this film was targeting. Especially given it only has 4 weekends before civil war steals it's thunder.

I think Crocodile Dundee is now number 10 with $47.71m so I would say the answer is no.  Jajang hasn't updated the first page of the thread with TFA yet.

Sweet thanks. I couldn't get onto the all time list on mpdaa :(

So it had roughly the same opening day as FF7 but will be around $1m behind after 4 days.

Anecdotal but I think a lot of people went away this year for Easter. Since the start of the year work (hospitality) has been up 15% on last year week in week out but has been down this Easter. Broncos v Cowboys GF replay was meant to be a sell-out but was 6,000 short.

Could also be the poor reviews hurting its BO :)
