With Saturday it got to around $11.3m. Victorian cinemas once again pretty flat from Friday to Saturday to Sunday.

This is FF7 at the same point.

Deadline has USD10m for Australia. That would be about AUD13.3m. Here are the opening 4 days for some similar openers.

Deadpool- $14.94m

FF7 - $14.62m (cume $14.96m)

BvS - $13.3m

MoS - $8.88m (cume $9.49m)

A solid 50% jump from MoS's opening weekend. However, it had the same opening day as FF7 but ended $1.3m behind over the 4 day weekend.

It's a good start but given an apparent drop off over the weekend.  It's legs could be a little short.  30m is a given but I get the feeling 35m could be a stretch.

What at will be interesting now is how civil war performs. Comps for CW

iron man 3 - 14m

winter soldier - 6m

age of ultron - 15.7m

CA in his own isn't quite the performer here. however when iron man is involved...

Both FF7 and BvS opened over Easter here.  We have nationwide public holidays on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

FF7 had $0.3m in Wednesday night limited previews.

FF7 OD was $3.3m vs 3.4m for BvS

FF7 OW was $14.6m vs  $13.2m for BvS

5 day weekend was $18m vs $15.7m for BvS  (@Rth What was the final 5 day figure for FF7?)

Now we wait for the @JJ-8 professional showdown.

Heres the showdown...

Mainly BVS vs FF7, but i've included Deadpool as it's the current 2016 leader though there isn't much difference between FF7 and deadpool.  I also included Twlight: Eclipse as the other option should BVS start to collapse.  It's certainly on a different path to FF7 already... i suspect somewhere in between eclipse and FF7 here...

anyway here it is:

Here is a comparison of the first 7 days between FF7 and BvS.  I don't have complete dailies for both films so Fri/Sat and Tue/Wed are combined.  As you can see FF7 had limited previews on the Wednesday night and then on the Thursday they both opened to an almost identical amount.  On Friday and Saturday BvS started to fall behind by around $300,000 each day.  BvS really dropped away on Sunday through to Wednesday by around $800,000 each day.
