Work is pretty quiet today so I've just checked the first day at Sydney IMAX. It has 487 seats available for sale (the front row is kept clear). All sessions are in 2D 70mm film. Tickets have been on sale for 25 hours.

Thursday 17 December 2015

12:01 - 487/487 SOLD OUT

03:00 - 268/487

06:00 - 128/487

09:00 - 225/487

12:00 - 315/487

15:00 - 313/487

18:00 - 476/487

21:00 - 475/487

That's 2687 already sold on just the first day alone. There's also a Friday 12:01am session with about 250 tickets sold. An adult ticket is AUD35.

In contrast it looks like about 25 tickets have been sold to the 6:15pm session of The Walk tonight.

Pity I can't make this comparison.

@terrestrialI was looking back through the thread and saw that I posted this.  On the left in the distance is Port Kembla with the coal loader, grain terminal and behind them the steelworks.  Just behind the beach is WIN Stadium and the Entertainment Centre.  The beach is Wollongong Beach and the surf club is at this end.  To the right is Belmore Basin and beyond that North Wollongong Beach.

I see often the pictures not. I think it has something to do with my browser security presets. This picture I do see. I also do not see the picures I post like e.g. the numero picture charts....

Is that where you go to swim (instead of Bondi)?

The sky looks impressive, the view vast (I like vast views). The canons were against what/which enemy? The air in the city at that position I can imagine to be still clean, no matter the industry, as long as the wind is blowing at least a bit.

Is the ~ summer already there? For me it is ~ funny to imagine X-Mas in hot weather.

I don't actually go swimming at the beach that much.

I usually go for a run most weekends. There's a shared bike/walking track that goes about 18km north from this point along the coast pass all of th beaches.  At this stage I run 5km north and then turnaround.

The cannons are for the Russians of course.

I meant how old are the cannons = depending on the age maybe against pirates too is possible or?

Not sure, but were the Russians expected to even reach Australia e.g. during WW I?

Australia and WWI I mostly know about Gallipolli,...

I know the Japanese did bomb during WWII and sent sub-marines.

Or do I misjudge the age of the cannons? They do look way older to me.

Still thinking about 2014 news (4 Russian ships... not seriously meant)

You run that much/often/regular?

Wow, I never did a lot of sport after school, but worked for many years in custom made... event  supporting industry. Lots of calculating,.. but also lots of heavy lifting and so on, doctors told me always I was then rather fit. I did swim a bit and some bicycling, but mostly because the drive-time was shorter then than to take the car (blocked short ways, parking space...). Not since I live here ( nearly 20years)

Now not really fit (but I am getting better with that again). I need always a reason to do something, 'only' for health seems not to be enough. To help a friend move, plant a garden, heavy work, yes. Sports... only during holiday trips.

The guns were delivered in 1879. The black fencing just in front of the lighthouse surrounds the disappearing gun emplacement constructed in 1890-91.

http://thebluemile.com.au/Defence/flagstaff-hill.html

Needless to say the Russians never did invade.  Also, we were on the same side as the Russians in WW1 and 2.

I've tried to keep more active for a while now.

Thank you.

I knew about WWII but wasn't sure about WWI, if the Russians changed their minds see changes in Russia. WWI was the last war I know this kind of cannons (as they look to be like) were used, but not in ~ modern countries.

I know American soldiers at the beginning of WWII had in some Asian isles or ...? old stone something flints, as their posts were considered only vs local people arrgh, I do not know the words, I think I am too tired.

Active is always good, one of the reasons I do not stay at home even if I could. Mental activism too.

The work with pupils,... does give new impulses, I think it is very important to still learn, be curious about others,... to stay open for other opinions or you really start to get 'old'. I probably should fo more for fitness too.

Have fun!

I didn't think that project was happening anymore

It has a stage 1 concept approval to be something like this at 505 George St.

Spoiler

505GeorgeStreet_1.jpg

For those who are unaware the 4-5 story building on the left of the tower is 525 George St where the large format screens are in the current complex.  The entrance to the current complex is where the tower will be built at 505 George St.

To the left of the V you can see the height of the facade change.  That's the divide between the 2 sites.  505 George St is to the right and is where the new tower is located.  525 George St is to the left and is not part of the current planning.

Image result for event george st

There's currently a design competition for the detail design.  I'm keeping track of it here.

Interesting last word on this was it wasn't happening and there's no DA's for the site (except cinema related) although guess atm there wouldn't be DA

See what I find out.

It has dragged on for a while now.  From what I can gather about the City of Sydney development process is that stage 1 approval is just the basic envelope of the building.  It then needs approval of the detailed designs.  If the detailed designs get announced in the next few months we might get a clearer time frame.
