More excited than ever. But WOM is going to be toxic among the GA.

11.5M OD

25M OW

51M total

Why would word-of-mouth be the toxic? The film's audience is limited to begin with but judging by the reviews it sounds like it'll please everyone who knows exactly what movie they're getting.

I went to Twitter because I wanted to see if the leaked orgy was fake or if they were really gonna do it, and apparently, they do it.

Seth told the animators to just go wild and they came up with an 8 minute scene. The final cut is like 2 1/2 minutes.

Apparently the movie got an NC-17, and in order to get it down to R, they had to:

digitally shave the pubes off the pita character's balls

lol

Exactly. People will walk in not knowing what to expect. There are a lot of times where we underestimate the GA, and times where we don't.

1, that's almost as ridiculous as Japanese porn laws

2, I bet it's a Trojan horse, like the puppet sex in Team America

Only ignorant parents will be angry about Sausage Party, though sadly there are plenty of those. The trailers and marketing have made it pretty clear this isn't an animated movie for kids.

I read the script version of the orgy scene. If North Korea still wants Seth's head, this should be grounds to hand him over for even thinking it up in the first place.

Seth's head?

You know, I don't think you mean what I think you mean...but I'm going to think you mean what I think you mean.

Pervert.

I will not watch this garbage, even free. Whenever I watch an animation take my wife, and I'm sure this is not a film that she is interested in attending.

Did somebody choke on a juicy sausage they were trying to swallow?

My friend, a theatre manager, just watched it. He's read the script and said

things have been changed around and um... the orgy is even filthier and crazier than on the page and is now near the end. Oh gosh.

He also told me about the revised ending which is stupid but I think a lot of audiences will find it hilarious.

I think that this summer has been so dreadful and the premise seems to be working enough to allow it to break out. I can see a $25 mil OW and having strong enough legs to possibly even get over $90 mil. The marketing is even touting, "Next week everybody will be saying the same thing: 'Oh my god, did you see Sausage Party?!'"

As unoriginal as the basic premise feels to me (like Robot Chicken hasn't existed for over a decade), I think that crowds will find just enough shocking subversiveness that it could stand out. I'll admit, the filthy Alan Menken song is a decent idea that I'm actually surprised nobody has done. Yes, they've done parodies, but actually tapping Menken was a smart move.

Also it only cost $30 mil, somehow. So Sony's in the bank big time with this one.

The $30 mil budget is what's surprising to me. Have animation costs really gone down that much, or is it just good management? Either way, after the budget fiasco of GB, Sony could use a breakout hit that's cheap.

The Shallows and now Sausage Party will make money for Sony and then that money will be used to cover the losses they've accumulated for Ghostbusters.
