Can I be the first to say that this sounds fucking terrible? I think Seth Rogen doesn't know jack shit about animation, and he certainly doesn't respect the medium. If he did, he would have thought of a premise for this movie that was at least as viable as those for his live-action films. Such a shame, because the two directors of this film are seasoned professionals.

 

I will eat my hat if this isn't Foodfight 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Technically at the very least I don't expect this to be Foodfight. Rogen's said they're going for Pixar level visuals

There is a surprising amount of A-list talent going into this film.

I have a hard time believing they spent more than $50 million on a story about a sausage, though. It's not going to actually meet Pixar standards.

Seems strange to underestimate the potential of a movie about an inanimate object.

Granted it's very possible this could end up being a hot mess, but I don't think it's fair to say at this point that Rogen disrespects the medium

This is going to be R-rated (by all accounts), so I don't think they're going for "Pixar standards."

The sense I get is they're trying for a similarly character driven narrative. It's not going to just be throwing a bunch of dirty jokes at you like how adult animated shows usually are

I'd love to see Justin Roiland or Raphael Bob-Waksberg try their hand at big R-rated animated movies someday, so hopefully this is a success critically and commercially.

 

Personally I'm quite excited for it.

What was the last mainstream R-rated animated movie anyway? South Park?

I could've sworn there was at least one in the interim but yeah, I think South Park was the last one that actually got a wide release
