Leyla
not that it will affect the noms or anything but Grand Budapest got an award for BEST ORIGINAL FILM SCORE OF THE YEAR http://variety.com/2014/film/news/alexandre-desplat-gent-world-soundtrack-awards-1201340243/

Jake Gittes
GBH score was much less memorable than Desplat's previous two scores for Anderson.

ChD
Zimmer's score is a totally new take on everything he's done. I think he has a solid chance at making it in this year.
pepper83
Wow! Steven Price's score for 'Fury' is powerful. Haunting and Beautiful. Especially the 'Emma' and 'Norman' tracks. Lord.
AdamKendall
I haven't seen all the top contenders, but Zimmer needs a nomination this year. Fantastic score for Interstellar.
The Panda
I personally think Interstellar and Fury really deserve a nomination, easily the most memorable scores I have heard this year (followed by Birdman and Grand Budapest)
ddddeeee
I liked some parts of Interstellar but a lot of it was second rate Philip Glass. Zimmer's getting 'innovative' praise for what other composers have been doing for decades. Blankments
Interstellar's score is the first this year to really stick out to me
The Panda
I liked some parts of Interstellar but a lot of it was second rate Philip Glass. Zimmer's getting 'innovative' praise for what other composers have been doing for decades. His track wasn't really innovative, but it was a strong and unique track that stood out compared to others this year. However, I think Fury is the best I've heard this year so far, it blends better and he does some really things with it. Birdman's score is cool as well, being pretty much improvisational drums, with the flight scenes being symphony. CloneWars
Something tells me that Interstellar wins this year.
dashrendar44
I liked some parts of Interstellar but a lot of it was second rate Philip Glass. Zimmer's getting 'innovative' praise for what other composers have been doing for decades. This. People praise Zimmer for being innovative even if he's aping what Philip Glass and Arvo Pärt (and other minimalists composers inspired by Glass like Clint Mansell) have been doing for a long time (Glass works on the qatsi movies for hence, even Zach Snyder used that style of music approach for Watchmen's sequences, hardly fresh!) Interstellar score was too distracting at times. You'd have some quiet dialogue and the music was overbearing like trying to be eerie and epic cranked to 11 with that big fat organ playing one major chord quoted from Also Sprach Zarathustra. *nudge wink 2001* Edited November 13, 2014 by dashrendar44
CoolioD1
thinking desplat wins this year. Maybe for Unbroken, maybe for Imitation Game, idk.
ShouldIBeHere
The score was one of the problems of Interstellar, not one of its assets imho
stripe
The imitation game score is quite good. Desplat is gonna be nommed for this Birdman score is a WTF for me. A drum experiment that I will have to listen again Fury score is noticiably less memorable than Gravity. Won't be nominated Gone girl score is... not sure also what to think about it Theory of everything is classy. Could really be nominated I've not listened to Zimmer's score for Interstellar Damn, I really miss Horner, Williams, Newton Howard, Goldsmith, Morricone... Jake Gittes
Seems like a shit year for scores. The only great ones I've heard are Under the Skin and Only Lovers Left Alive, and the Oscars couldn't give less of a fuck about either of them.
Blankments
Alexandre Desplat, The Imitation Game Johann Johansson, The Theory of Everything Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Gone Girl Antonio Sanchez, Birdman Hans Zimmer, Interstellar
Ezen Baklattan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdDRb32u_Ss Best score of the year, but probably won't be nominated.
