Plus Avatar just barely missed 11 markets with Italy coming in at $94 million.

This is what universal themes can achieve.

I feel like this movie is coming out at the right time fortunately. I feel like there is a huge appetite right now for major, tentpole blockbuster movies that isn't a superhero movie, but fun for families, that demands to be seen on the big screen.

John Wick, Top Gun and Mission: Impossible all kind of feel the same (white, male lead in an action focused movie). They don't really appeal to the female demographic IMO. Jurassic World Dominion will do well as expected but I feel like the gap between 2 and 3 may have been too long.

There's more in the 20M+ group than you are showing here. I think some older classics like Gone With the Wind (US, UK, Aus) or Jungle Book (US, Germany) have multiple 20M+ territories. Or if you are just including recent movies, there's Frozen (US and Japan). And outside of Hollywood, there's Dangal (India, China).

Yeah just focused on recent films and more than two ones. Mentioned Avatar only because what it is.

Other one to have two 20+ will be Toy Story 4 in Mexico & DOM. This is only one to have 2 without China.

There are many others with DOM & China.

Frozen didn't do 20M in Japan.

Today's CPI numbers are both insane, and lies, I believe real rate is closer to 15%. At this rate I expected the entire top 10 to fall in the next decade. All 4 Avatar sequels could do 4B+ each no problem.

There enough time between now and december for things to get out of control? Otherwise I can't see where the extra billion would come from

Top 10 is made up of 5 movies which all grossed between 1.5 and 1.8, I assume those would all fall off within 4-5 years assuming no covid memery

but a time in the "near" future in which the average mega blockbuster does 2.8 billion+, that seems like a lot

I really hope we get a teaser soon, SuperBowl would be perfect for Cameron to show off what he's been cooking up

Not gonna happen.

So King Of Atlantis ain't moving, I guess we'll get A Clash of Kings cause King of the World sure as hell won't bow and leave.

It's a poor decision if it doesn't move. It would make more money taking the March 2023 spot than going up against Avatar 2, even with holiday help.
