and if anyone isinterested in Hunger Games

1 The Hunger Games: Catching Fire LGF $424,668,047 4,163 $158,074,286 4,163 11/22/13
2 The Hunger Games LGF $408,010,692 4,137 $152,535,747 4,137 3/23/12

I've looked at this before, the hobbit works too. Shrek was another good one I think.

I found that prequel/sequels 1 year apart gross extremely closely to each other.

Since Tawasal is too afraid - could you post Alien vs Aliens and T1 vs T2 for me Lothar?

Come on beating 65m in 1991 would be like if Avatar made anything bellow 400m in 2009 I would say it had 80% of beating that. But 760m is a huge number itself.

80% is the chance I'd give Avatar to make over $800m dom.

My estimate is $850m DOM, $600-$1200m China (impossible to predict), OS - China $1700m. So that's $3150m-$3750m

Basically everyone loves it and goes see's it multiple times and it's the light in everyone's bleak life for half a year.

1 Alien Fox $288,730,700 $78,944,891 5/25/79
2 Aliens Fox $210,720,000 $85,160,248 7/18/86

If you look at the adjusted gross for those two in todays market that is nothing and easy to beat but I am gonna say it again but we are talking about 760m man, not some peanuts.

This kind of multi is how I see A2 and A3 going.

Why are you posting adjusted all of a sudden?

A2 and A3 make within 10% of each other I think.

TS1 Opening Weekend to TS3 total, now that's the sorta mutli we're going to see from Avatar to A2.

You guys seem desperate now and I don't think you understood what I was getting at with those movies that I was comparing it to. Now you will even dig up sub 100m movie to say that it could be done.

This is all I needed to see.

James Cameron sequels are, much like Jim, the rest of his movies, his vision, and people's expectations of him... the exception to the rule

The cognitive dissonance that surrounds the man and his work is astounding.

(204/38) * 760 = 4.01b

Avatar to make $4.01b dollars domestic.

I am just showing you that you should compare to movies that either adjust to 500m+ or made over 500m+.

You're the one clutching at straws. Moving goal posts.

If you're going to try and make smart comments like 'a little boxoffice history' then at least learn to be consistent.

You guys are comparing movies that made 38m in 1984 and the sequel in 1991 was guaranteed to beat that number.

Atleast compare the movie to movies that are in the same level like these:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Marvel's The Avengers

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight Rises

Star Wars

The Empire Strikes Back
