Avatar: The Way of Water | 16 DEC 2022 | Don't worry guys, critics like it

filming 3 movies at once = bad idea. not impossible, but making 3 great movies at once is harder.

Matrix effect, Avatar 2 will do well, but 3 and 4 will do way way less.

6 months apart and Revolutions fell in quality.

Sam Worthington is cool. Aaron Taylor Johnson is a charisma vacuum. He knocks up old women and marries them. He plays a character named Vronski in Anna Karenina, directed by Joe Wright, and was per Fishnets, horrible and far worse than anything Sam Worthington has ever done, and that includes Clash of the Titans. This is a bad thing.

Thank you

we have a date. Now we need a "Fox fast-tracks Avatar 2 for 2016" thread title.

And "Mark Strong = Villain?"

Get a clue dudes. Getting old don't you have another title to lay with. Move along you 2 and see you never. :weakestlink:

AT-J wasn't horrible in AK only per me. Critics panned his perforemnce like there's no tomorrow as did arbiters of good taste Awards Daily Forums now known as AwardsWatch. His perf was universally loathed.

And his wife who could be his mom is directing 50 Shades of Grey which is totally fitting that a cougar who banged barely legal (and most likely once illegal) guy directs a mommy porn.

Heh, I didn't follow the movie enough to comment so I didn't want to make any sweeping claims.

It wasn't awful, just boring.

The movie was boring. AT-J was awful. Joe Wright is an overrated hack. TGG is how you do the inventive take on the classic literature, not that stage shit Wright did. Like, what a stupid idea. Instead of showcasing the beauty of Russia, which is what epics like AK are supposed to do, he locked them into a theater and shot it there. Idiot.

Yeah, I more or less agree. The theatricality and staging was interesting for about 15 minutes, then it wore off and wasn't innovative enough to justify the entire film.

Some shots looked incredible though.

If the $1 billion production budget figure holds true and if you extrapolate about $115 mil for the marketing budget.....the 3 films will have to gross a combined $2.7ish billion to "break even". Considering that Avatar alone made that much, I foresee big paydays for writers, director, and studio alike. Still, don't expect anywhere near the grosses of Avatar and Titanic for the sequels. They would have to average about $900b in WW to hit that $2.7billion number. I think they'll get it but the "big paydays" I mentioned earlier will largely come from dvd/tv rights/cable/merchandise/licensing etc.

So you are saying under 900M WW for the sequels?
