The movie is probably close to finish so 3 hour must be the final runtime or very close to final.

Hopefully there won't be any more bold statements on the interview, some people was freaking out about his saying people watch 8 hour TV shows and then complain about long movies

The way I'm reading his comment is that he'd very much like to direct number 4 himself, but as the future is not set, who knows what can happen. But, indeed, as he didn't mention number five specifically, it does sound as if he's not terribly keen to do the fifth one himself. (maybe he's not as satisfied with the script of number five?) Or maybe he's just figuring he'll be too old/exhausted by that point to do two big movies in parallel, so he'll be satisfied with directing just one, 4th one, in parallel with someone else directing number 5.

(don't let it be Rodriguez, though. His Alita was competent overall, alright, but there were definitely parts of it where the director could not care less as to how to stage a shot)

I'm wondering if JC has some minor regrets about letting go of BATTLE ANGEL ALITA (My preferred title)...it wasn't awful, but of course it would have been so much more with Cameron at the helm.  As would have been another Terminator.

I think he knows that once he set things up again with the next couple of AVATARs, they can live on themselves.  Now, it will just be up to his own choices...and the market, like he says.  But these are interesting words from him, for sure.  Either way, if he gets to helm a couple of other things in his later career outside of AVATAR, it's all good news!  I'm a huge supporter of his work regardless, but I'd be so interested to see what else he has in mind...

That "Might" doesn't sound good in my poor english world.

it's just as useless as it should be

Nothing to worry about

We mixed the schedules for 2 and 3 together, based on the types of scenes and the environments. I said, let's just treat it like it's a six-hour miniseries and we're only going to go to Frankfurt once. We're going to shoot all the scenes from 2 and 3 at the same time. That was more or less the motif. Actor availability was an issue as well. Anything that had to be done with a specific actor, we did all the scenes for 2 and 3 together — and a little bit of 4. Because once again, I had to shoot the kids out. They're allowed to age six years in the middle of the story on page 25 of movie 4. So I needed everything before then, and then everything after, we'll do later.

Doesn't this mean avatar 4 has a major timeskip in it?

There are entire channels with WAY to many subs that are just fake trailers.  It's quite insane.

I think I saw an Avatar 2 trailer on youtube over 10 years ago

I remember being 13 years old watching this Avatar 2 trailer parody, thinking it was the funniest thing of all time. I was not very bright at 13.

I have to say, even for something made in 2012, this video seems remarkably lazy.

You know this predates the marvel take over cause there’s not one single CBM reference in this.

Parodies of Christian Bale’s Batman voice were still pretty big at the time. You’d think they would’ve tried to find a way to squeeze that in there, along with a Twilight joke.

Yes, but this is old news.  Cameron mentioned it a long while ago in interviews.

It will be a six-year time jump, undisclosed narrative reasons.
