UK Box office is heading for a big BIG slump starting October, might want to knock at least 25% off that number

I'm gonna be famous! My tenure on this forum has finally paid off.

Ha. That would be fantastic. The positivity that Avatar fans have shown in the face of years of negativity is quite inspirational! I hope that it pays off for you all in December. I had not paid much attention to the movie or sequels in some time but it is interesting the community that has grown around it. I will be looking at other places also.

I am glad of the good feedback I have been sent. I look forward to sharing my work with you soon. I think the posts speak for themselves. :)

That’s weird that there would be two categories of users and I wouldn’t be in the same group as @IronJimbo and @TomCruiseTop!

I can’t imagine why this is!!!

deep wang you're just as passionate about Avatar 2 as I am, you go hard in this thread!

Nah but top is frequent posters who are not Avatar fans, bottom is Avatar fans

Hello every one I hope you are having a fantastic day. I am a YouTuber that makes videos on various topics. I am making a video on the -box office history of Avatar- and I have in doing my research read through this entire thread. I will be profiling various users here and there opinions. I just wanted to say that if you would prefer your name and pfp to be hidden to let me know with a message. My videos gets tens of thousands of views so I wanted to make sure that I did not annoy anyone by showing their name and pfp while sharing the posts.

The main users I will be profiling and fall into kind of two categories are

Deep Wang/SchumacherFTW/Eric/ZeeSoh/Maggie/Reddroast/4815162342/DeeCee/Charlie Jatinder/Ozymandias

Iron Jimbo/Kalel009shel/TomCruiseTop/Avatree/Porthos/WittyUsername/Elessar/hw64/Lothar/Valonqar/PureSpirit/NCSoft/IsaacNewton

I have spent a lot of time on this and hope people enjoy it. I will be releasing it in December when I hope attention is highest. Thank you for so much materials and thanks for reading.

This sounds so cool! Go ahead.

Who ever said I'm not an Avatar fan? I'm just a realist 😜

a realist whose Avatar 2 box office prediction has been slowly creeping towards mine

Didn't you say 2.4b sounded reasonable yesterday? I can't imagine you saying that 5 years ago

By December you'll be saying 3b sounds reasonable

I was there at midnight for Avatar in IMAX 3D.  I saw it at least 3-4 times in IMAX 3D and like 6 times in total including on the day it passed Titanic and the special edition re-release.

Avatar was the reason I first signed up for the forums!

I do like Avatar!  I just don't think it's THE BEST THING EVER or that the sequels will ALSO BE THE BEST THINGS EVER AND MAKE MORE MONEY THAN GOD.

I'm not sure if Avatar's will even be in Avatar 2 or onwards, maybe Quaritch will use a na'vi body to infiltrate enemy lines??

Everyone will love Avatar 2, including China, including North America, including Europe, including the rest of Asia, including south America and including Africa. After all it's the sequel to the most worldwide beloved film of all time.

Good call, I don't think anybody envisioned that the RDA would double down on the use of avatars for non scientific purposes even if it makes perfect sense.

Are they only going to release one more trailer for this? I hope not. 3 total sounds good.

I think we definitely get one at D23 in what 9 days, so thats 2 by early sept.

The final original Avatar trailer came out in November. For that reason I would say we're probably getting 3.

many people comfortable going over $2b now, they used to think that was absurd

I’d imagine they’ll definitely put a new one out for Black Panther.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they even did some kind of extended IMAX exclusive preview to be attached to BP too (like the 5 minute training montage preview Paramount did for Top Gun).

The only thing here, and I do mean literally the only thing here that gives me even the slightest of pauses is Disney perhaps not really ratcheting up the promotion until BP2 is in the rearview mirror.

The recent track record of Disney heavily promoting a Major Marvel Picture and a SW Picture at the same time is... Well, isn't great.  Now to be sure, Solo had a ton of problems and lack of marketing was only one of them.  At the same time, TROS only had to deal with Frozen 2 (which is different enough not to have toes stepped on) and TLJ had to deal with GOTG2 (which, no offense, wasn't on the level of BP2).  Any time before that really gets too far into the past to truly compare situations.

Speaking of which, the situations really aren't remotely similar, so no need for folks to really argue strenuously here about how the situations aren't that similar.  I know.  Believe me, I KNOW.

Still.  Still, always a bit of a danger when one multimedia conglomerate is in charge of two major pieces of IP instead of competing conglomerates. Competing conglomerates don't have an internal push/pull to worry about and indeed are somewhat incentivized to try to steal the thunder of competitors.

Here though...  Well, the interests might, emphasis on might, be different.  Would a 20th Century Fox led Avatar 2 gone more out at Comic Con, for instance?  Would they not give a shit about "holding things back" for a made up D23 day?  Would they have created their own day ala the Avatar Day back in 2009?  Would they not care about taking some attention away from BP2?

Don't get me wrong, I 100% expect a new trailer with BP2 as it makes all the sense in the world.  But beyond that (like exclusive previews and whatnot)?  Well, won't say "no", but instead "We'll see".
