I'm halfway through the book. There's a lot of science but it's all in the service of the human story so it works. The character of Mark Whatney is slightly annoying, though.

 

I hope it's a big hit for Ridley and for Chastain. I don't really about Damon.

I think it will do similar number to Gravity overall, $600-$750 million worldwide. Loved the book and my reservations on the transfer to film appear to have been resolved appropriately, I'm really looking forward to this one.

I didn't hate Interstellar, I actually liked it but it should have been so much better. But I think The Martian is going to be really good for me. 

 

As far as you and Ethan are concerned...I like you both. Yes Shay, after all the vile things you said about Jurassic World, you're still ok in my book. Ethan is an enigma, have yet to figure the young man out but he's ok in my book as well.

Although it's like 20 times better on the biggest screen possible. I felt like I was in space all the 11 times I saw it in cinemas.

The comparisons are so unnecessary.

Gravity is a drama taking place in a few hours which bodes it's incredible technical elements.

The Martian is a dramedy which focuses on narrative and a personal odyssey.

I may make judgements before I see a movie, but

I would never get my mind set on something for the sake of hating it.

My excitement for this movie is through the roof. Amazing ensemble (I like all the actors and actresses in this movie), Scott's a great director (the worst part about his last few movies was the script, not his direction), and it's supposed to be a big crowd pleaser. Can October 2nd get any closer?
