Moviedweeb
Tom Cruise is still huge in China - the biggest emerging film market - which will make him very attractive to studios. MI5 can possibly do $150m in China alone. Regardless, it should see an increase from MI4 which was extremely well received. Also, Edge was very well reviewed domestically so I think his star power is increasing if anything.

I'm assuming 252 + 92.5 DOM = 344.5 mil going into tonight. Between Japan and North America expect 4 mil more this weekend. Maybe a million left in the rest of the world. The fantastic run in South Korea is now over as it dropped 80% with Apes appearing. I think there's a touch of money left in France and a few of the other places that have neither Apes nor TF4 out. Global total should be $350 mil by Sunday, give or take. The movie is going to crawl past $356 but dammit it will happen!

Gagen Lang
Glad to know it won't lose money after all. I was so sure it'd make around After Earth's money but it topped that terrible movie by $100mil+ so, well done! I`m happy that all naysayers predicting it`s (even before the movie was released) flop were so wrong. Must be bitter. Also EOT topped Elysium with its respected director and well liked (by American audience) star Matt Damon. Only problem EOT has its enormous budget. Also I have to say I`m sooo disappointed by EOT gross in Japan. Guess that original wasn`t so popular there.
Moviedweeb
From Deadline: Tom Cruise-Doug Liman collaboration Edge Of Tomorrow still has life in it after bowing overseas in late May. The Warner Bros actioner added an estimated $2.3M from 1,830 screens in 52 markets this weekend. The international take is now $261.3M versus $96.6M domestic. In its 3rd weekend in Japan, the movie was down 28% with an extra $1.3M from 632 screens for an $11.6M cume. The film is expected to continue playing as school holidays kick off in that market.

Me too but it seems like the Japan box office has been overtaken by females - Frozen's gross over there is astounding & now Maleficent is raking it in!! Look at it this way - EOT has already grossed more in Japan than DOFP & CA:WS & is closing in on Noah - makes me feel a bit better!

Let female audience enjoy Disney tales as much as they can. Boys, it`s your turn now. Thank you. You make me feel a little better.
Tau Ceti
What a fickle market Japan is. Spidey did $30 mil there this year but X-Men did just $10 mil. The Last Samurai reached $119 ten years ago while 47 Ronin didn't even reach $3 mil this year. It's a very hard territory to predict. Edge will break $15 mil with an outside shot at $20 mil. That's not the big break out we were all hoping for but is also far from a failure. The overall figure of $358 mil was better than I expected. What's left to hope for? Maybe $370 mil as the final score.
