I think the winner of Barbie doing well won't be WB, it'll be Mattel.

Yes this was made clear in the Time article. They’re not interested in selling more dolls as a result of this - they want to build an IP that they can continue to leverage in different commercial directions.  Hence this collaboration: Greta gets to make her subversive movie, they get to build a credible IP. They don’t need to see eye to eye - everyone wins.

Yes according to the time article there is a Mattel universe is coming.

The next should be the Hot wheels movie in 2025.

The Mattel CEO said they want to make movies are not predictable and standard but can have a real impact on culture, so Who knows Who they can have It for that movie. 😅

Hot Wheels is in development and Netflix is making a live action Masters of the Universe film.

According to time 14 movies coming. And now Mattel films is something really exist with a specific CEO. Is Marvel shaking?

🤣Mattel has announced 14 more movies based on its toys, including a J.J. Abrams–produced Hot Wheels movie and (intriguingly) a Barney film with Daniel Kaluuya. The expansion also includes more streaming shows, video games, and a Mattel theme park currently under construction in Arizona.

Thomas and Friends as a film is in development as well.

The "Amy Schumer was going to be Barbie" thing is making the rounds again. Yes, but that wasn't this movie at all. That was a different studio and different screenwriters and directors and a very different concept - like if Kate McKinnon from this version was the lead (just based on what we heard and the trailer of this movie). And that might have worked as well, who knows? It just would have been very very different. I swear the Internet wants something to be outraged about everyday.

Most exciting thing about Barbie (outside of it, you know, looking really fantastic) is that if it is as big of a hit as it seems like it's going to be, I feel like Gerwig is going to get carte blanche on whatever she does next. Lady Bird was an indie hit ($49M domestic and $78M WW) and Little Women was... actually a pretty big hit considering it's budget ($108M domestic and $219M WW), so three hits in a row would be pretty huge tbh

WB will be snapping her up for a first look deal for sure.

A trilogy to rival Nolan's Batman trilogy. I'm here for it.

I don't quite get what's so outraging about "amy schumer was going to be barbie" anyway...like, who gives a fuck?

Every reaction until now Is really really positive about gosling, time wrote he easily "stolen the show".

And how we can see on all the promotional things and new promo seems like not only It has a very goofy comedy role but also his deepest Moment (and well even a musical big scene).

Especially if the movie breaks out seems like Ken is going at the oscars.

She also wrote the script for Disney's Snow White next year too. Watch them book her to direct their live-action Tangled or whatever.

Agreed. She is on a very strong roll. Script credit for SNOW WHITE as well. Surely she will get a greenlight whatever she wants to do next.
