Mattel has Barbie, Hot Wheels, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Monster High, and Max Steel as potential properties. Most recently, it’s been developing “Barbie” and “Masters of the Universe” movies at Sony  but Sony’s options have expired on those properties.

Didn’t the Max Steel movie bomb in a big way last year?

Watch as this turns into another dracula untold/the mummy situation and the first one of these Mattel studios films ends up even worse than Max Steel

This is very early, but we’re hearing that Barbie after going around in circles in development at Sony is heading over to Warner Bros. Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is in early talks to possibly helm with Margot Robbie potentially headlining.

Patty, why?

And what the hell is the plot of this thing anyway?

If they are talking Margot Robbie as the lead, the original "Barbie is kicked out of Barbieland because she is too imperfect (ie not pretty enough)" storyline must be dead.

IMHO SONY made a smart move....rare for them...in passing this mess on to Warners.

This will be Robbie’s biggest hit if true, and if done right could elevate her as an A-list actress. The film is going to be to her what Venom is to Tom Hardy.

Robbie is already pretty much A List. Harley made her a star and "I Tonya" got her a Oscar Nomination and established her as a serious Dramatic actress.

And  it looks unlikely that Venom is going to make Hardy an A lister, given the mixed reception it's getting.

When Robbie was in talk with Sony, Enchanted/Marry Poppins seemed to be the influence.

Why the barbie get kick out of Barbieland is probably not that important and can be changed.

I meant to say as the lead actress, because as Harley Quinn she was a costar and even then in Birds of Prey she’s just leading the ensemble.

Ehh Her being Harley Quinn is bigger than whatever she's doing in this film. That role 100% gave her mass exposure. Add to the fact that she's already an Oscar Nominated actress and is starring as Sharon Tate in Once Upon A Time....I mean the point I was trying to bring up was that Margot is already an A-lister with her role as Harley Quinn being her most iconic role to date. And if shes not considered A-list then I am not sure which actresses would be.
