#2 debut, YOUCH :(

Putting it against the second weekend of I2 was always going to cause issues I guess. Hopefully it has some decent legs and the school holidays help it out.

Looks like the school holidays are at least keeping it flat, the first one's first week of release grossed $1,268,528 while this one now has a cume of $1.3M despite a lower opening. I2 is obviously hurting it but at least it's getting a bit of a weekday boost by the holidays.

Ant-Man and the Wasp at #4 with $532K. <_<

At least it's doing better in other overseas territories I guess.

Hey, gotta look on the upside. Only down 33%.

I2 is straight up killing it though. It's pulling out some huge numbers. Increased from last weekend!

Hidden in the actual MPDA report:

6 ~ Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again Universal Pictures $186,294

That's more than Ragnarok IIRC. Big weekend coming me thinks.

All those sold out Chicks at the Flicks sessions. Will be interesting to see how it goes though.

Great opening for Mamma Mia. Sixth highest of the year IIRC.

10 Pitch Perfect 3 Universal Pictures 01/01/2018 $765,246 89

I2 just hit 7M and it looks like JW:FK is set to hit 5M as well. I'd say Mamma Mia should also hit that mark since it only needs a 3x multi, which gives us at least six films over 5M this year. Might be a first? Regardless, the top films of the year are looking really good at this point. I completely forgot about Mamma Mia last week so it might give the box office enough juice to get over 2016.

Premier number or OD?

It was a weird rollout here, they had a single IMAX early preview on Monday (that was 85% sold out when I last checked it. Also not sure if it was at any other chains since I didn't look), then they had previews everywhere again on Tuesday night, and then more on Wednesday night. So no full days afaik just three "previews" which will be what those numbers are. Will be interesting to see what it ends up with come Monday.
