The BFG (Spielberg Attached to Direct) July 1, 2016

Recommended Posts

$34 million OW

$95 million DOM

Dory before, Pets the week after... BFG really has no shot at a leggy run in its current spot. If Disney had just released Jungle Book in October 2015, they could have given April 8 or 15 to BFG - perfect spot for a mid-level fantasy adventure.

Looks gorgeous... But you know the source material is mediocre at best

Nah, BFG is vintage Dahl. But it depends which way you go - like most of his stories it has the potential to be a genuinely scary kids flick if Spielberg's willing to go there.

PS - have I said how much I hate this new forum? Quoting is a glitch-ridden nightmare.

It looks pretty good although it seems like it would better released in December than July. The BFG is a great story and Mark Rylance is great casting as the BFG, after Wolf Hall and Bridge of Spies, he's definitely becoming more well known in Hollywood.

Problem is Fantastic Beasts. This would look way too similar and/or tame by comparison
