riczhang
SO IT'S MY FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR AGAIN. THE OSCARS. So welcome to the nominations for the 8th annual CAYOM Academy Awards, hosted by our favourite Goddess Meryl and produced by my favourite CAYOM directors, Joel and Ethan Coen. For each category, list five nominees. Do not rank the nominees, they can be in any order, though alphabetical order is preferred. Please consult the FYC thread for assistance if needed. You will have until this Saturday (10 May 2014) at 12PM PST/3PM EST to get your picks in. Tie breakers will then be posted that night and last for at least 48 hours. There will not be a Foreign Language Film Category because the requisite quota of 3 releases was not met. (correct me if I'm wrong.) But there will be a documentary category. However, there will be no ranking as only 5 documentaries were released this year; thus, we already have our nominees. And one last thing. Please do not track oscar nominations/votes in this thread. If you are going to track, please keep it to yourself. Posting publicly will ruin the game for some of us and may also force some players to change their ballots, skewing the results. So without further ado, these are the categories: Best Picture Best Animated Feature Best Director Best Ensemble Best Actor Best Actress Best Supporting Actor Best Supporting Actress Best Voice Actor/Actress in a Leading Role Best Voice Actor/Actress in a Supporting Role Best Original Screenplay Best Adapted Screenplay Best Original Score Best Original Song Best Cinematography Best Film Editing Best Art Direction Best Costumes Best Makeup Best Sound Mixing Best Sound Editing Best Visual Effects Best Use of Action Edited May 10, 2014 by riczhang

rukaio101
^^^^ Thanks for all the noms. Surprised Mushishi got a Best Use of Action nod though. Also, I don't think The Little Mermaid is eligible for Best Visual Effects since CJohn hasn't put it on the FYC page.
Ezen Baklattan
Just because it's not on the FYC page doesn't mean it's not eligible.

Blankments
Yeah...really wanted to make a top 25 list and ballot, but I guarantee you it's impossible by Saturday. It's Tech Week of the musical and I also have two AP tests. Sorry guys

Blankments
I pretty much know I'm failing the Calculus one though D: as in, we've taken three practice tests in class, and the highest I've scored is a 2... I'm screwed
riczhang
Got an AP Calc on Weds and an AP English on Friday. D:(I won't comment on AP English cus I almost failed that, but the Maths when I took it was a lot easier than the practise exams, especially the Barron's)
Ezen Baklattan
It might have helped that my Calc teacher in High School was a bit intimidating.

ChD
Also, thanks for the nominations everyone. I need to put some effort into writing a description for my scores since I see no one actually takes them into consideration unless it's a known composer (I see numbers put Desplat down) or it has a description. That's like my second most favorite category after Screenplay. Tried putting down a description. If you don't mind checking it, please do. Thanks. Ezen Baklattan
Like 2 on a scale from 1 to 10? I'm just making sure I understand that right. AP exams are these special tests in the United States (and a few other places in the Western Hemisphere) that high schoolers can take and potentially get college credit on if they do well. They're graded on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being great and 1 being awful. Most students will get credit if they score a 4 or 5, but passing 3 scores are not unheard of. Each university has its own AP policy.
