What's even more frustrating is that Star Trek Prodigy already got renewed for a second season. It was being worked on up until right now and was all set to go later this year. But they just had to pull it all away and delete the whole thing without second thought. That is especially ghoulish.

They're still gonna air S2 on P+...but no one will be able to catch up when it airs. Brilliant decision!

Nah, they cancelled it on P+ and are "shopping it to other streamers", which I feel like won't work that well

Scientology should buy up Paramount since it's the only thing keeping it afloat as-is

not sure what the future of Paramount will be , but this seems better than Paramount being absorbed by WBD

Meh I dunno. In this idiotic streaming era some more consolidation would be good. Plus we need stronger arms against Disney after that Fox purchase was allowed and they got idiotically big

But it would also means less competition. Ehhh....

That’s not how that works.

The consolidation issue is that a competitor effectively stops operating. Disney didn’t actually gain anything that would’ve increased their ability to produce more content. They didn’t produce more movies, I’m pretty sure WBD produces more television.
Disney buying Fox plugged holes in their content library - especially television.

WBD and Paramount produce the exact same product. A merger would end up with WBD rummaging through scraps, keeping what works, and shutting down or selling off what doesn’t (including WBD stuff too. Cartoon Network would certainly be dead).

But access to bigger library of IPs and a larger security blanket thanks to increased dolla size of the company allows less desperate shitty sequels one after another.

If Disney didn't have Marvel and Avatar, you think they would EVER allow this kind of a pause for SW films? Nah

Look at Sony and what happens when the entire company is basically just Spider-Man..

Was looking at the schedule to see what Paramount has on deck next.

2/14: Bob Marley: One Love

5/17: IF

6/28: A Quiet Place: Day One

9/13: Transformers One

10/18: Smile 2

11/22: Gladiator 2

12/20: Sonic the Hedgehog 3

And in 2025 so far:

2/14: animated Smurfs

5/23: Mission: Impossible 8

10/10: animated Last Airbender

12/19: animated SpongeBob

With very little else looking to head into production soon. Definitely showing the signs of a studio that's on its last days before a merger.
