So, where is his new animation home? Aardman, Dreamworks, Blue Sky, Illumination, Create his own studio?

Doesn't sound like Keane is retiring. Sounds like he wants to do more projects and he likely wasn't getting to do them at Disney. Rumors were he was heartbroken when he was taken off the director's chair for Rapunzel/Tangled (and he got a heart attack). I personally don't buy the rumors, but they're out there. So yeah, this was likely coming.

Some bits and pieces around the animation studio...

Long stories short, King of the Elves has been shelved again. Frozen (formerly Snow Queen) is on track but there was a directorial change, Chris Williams (director of Meet the Robinsons) has been demoted. Ron & John are working on their first CGI film, possibly for 2014/2015. Other directors (Don Hall, Nathan Greno and Byron Howard of Tangled) are competing for an upcoming slot as well.
