Has Skull Island been confirmed to be part of the same universe as Godzilla? Is it possible that it could be part of Universal's "monster cinematic universe" starting with The Mummy in April 2016?

Godzilla is a Toho property, and the Legendary Pictures Godzilla films stay at WB. It's the "Universal Classic Monsters Cinematic Universe," Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Wolfman, the Invisible Man, the Phantom of the Opera and the Creature From the Black Lagoon.

Suddenly I'm reminded of Willis O'Brien's unmade "King Kong vs. Frankenstein" (or "...vs. Prometheus") where Kong was going to fight a gigantic creation of a descendant of Dr. Frankenstein or something. It eventually somehow metamorphosed into King Kong vs. Godzilla. Maybe they could dust that concept off...
